Please let us name our characters whatever we wish!

It is already nearly impossible to name characters relatively obscure names, because they are already taken. When the game launches, names will start looking like "xxXXDonkey_Breath666xxX" because literally all "normal" games will be taken within ten minutes.

I understand the game tickles our D2 nostalgia, but having that shared pool of names was always annoying, including in PoE1. There has to be some kind of system that allows multiple instances of the same name, be it a hidden ID tacked on, or something else. I think everyone would enjoy character creation much more if we can actually name our characters what we want. Thank you, GGG!

No, you clearly DON'T understand! In a multiplayer online game your name is = your reputation therefore unique names are a must have.
