Dark Effigy Potential Bug - Blackflame Ring
Dark Effigy states that enemies afflicted by a chaos damage over time debuff have projectiles fired at them.
Blackflame ring changes the damage type taken by enemies into chaos for ignite. Ergo it is logical to presume that this unique & skill would work together. However I know that Blackflame doesn't turn the damage INTO chaos damage, but makes the damage TAKEN as chaos. Therefor I am posting this as a "potential" bug rather than a factual bug, as it would be nice if this was just a missed skill interaction rather than intended design. Please review. bump, this interaction should work this way as Ignite states "Ignite is an Ailment that deals Fire damage over time", you would instead be replacing the keyword of Fire with Chaos

I've theorycrafted a very intricate and awesome build but i could not put it in practise because apparently the Blackflame Amethyst Ring won't convert the Radiant Grief Lace Hood "baby RF" to chaos, or if it does, won't proc the Dark Effigy totens :( It would have been SO AWESOME! i hope it's an EA BUG and that it might get fixed soon :3 |

"Don't get upset, but ignite is a fire DoT debuff, and Blackflame can't change this (nothing can unless GGG come up with a new tech). It would only work if they made Dark Effigy bombard enemies affected by both chaos and fire DoT debuffs, yet that doesn't make sense thematically. Also changing the condition to "bombards enemies that take Chaos damage over time" is not technically possible as far as I know. |

" Eh its simpler than you think, its literally just a checkbox to see if the player has the blackflame ring equipped. A "yes/no" factor similar to "cannot be stunned: YES" that would be set when detecting ignite on enemies while wearing this ring and using the totem. The totem can already detect each different type of chaos damage. For example: If the enemy is poisoned with either 1 stack or 3, the totem fires a single projectile because the poison is applied. So logically you would simply check "is ignite applied & blackflame equipped" and if both true then a projectile is fired. I also expected the blackflame ring to allow Dark Effigy totems to work from ignites, and found out this isn't the case currently. Maybe this is intended, but intuitively it seemed like it should work to me.

bump - I was also trying this combination just now and saw it didn't work as I would expect.
So either fix if its unintended or a label update to the Dark Effigy to avoid confusion in the future. |

Bump for patch 0.2.0. Converting ignite to chaos DoT should interact with everything related to chaos DoT, which is the point of the ring effect (Scaling, spreading, bombard from dark effigy, etc.). Right now it literally just converts the damage to chaos, but it is "just" an ignite, where it should gain the characteristics of a chaos DoT to be "What I feel the item wants to do".
Otherwise, while the effect works as intended, its use is much less interesting. |
