Is Overwolf PoE Overlay II Bannable?

Hi,

Can any Admin/GM confirm if we are allowed to use overlays like the PoE Overlay from Overwolf? https://www.overwolf.com/app/kyusung4698-poe_overlay_ii

Hey there,

In general, we do not encourage the creation or use of third-party tools because they may provide advantages for players that use them. I'm afraid that we're unable to guarantee if a tool is allowed or would remain allowed in the future.
Rather than what is allowed, what about a specific list of some of the more frequently problematic apps that are currently disallowed? Hiding behind security through obscurity is silly because the nefarious players are going to do what they do anyway given how trivial it is to create infinite accounts and this type of ambiguity only serves to create negative experiences (bad sentiment). And I get it, it's an arms race against the botters, RMT jerks and other bad actors.

While I don't use external tools, a lot of people who do are likely using it in the capacity of player to player trading and quick reference information. Some of these tools aren't intentionally malicious but (I presume) cause excess load on ggg's APIs and it's reasonable to want to reduce that resource utilization.

It wouldn't be the end of the world to just say explicitly for once something like: Using overwolf based apps may cause nondesired interactions with the game and we would encourage players not to use that app or risk permanently losing access to their account. This direct wording makes it abundantly clear and reduces (but won't eliminate, obviously) these evergreen threads

Note: I used Overwolf here as an example only because this engine pops up here and other Poe forums all the time.

Price check by having quick trade search in overlay instead of having to enter all values manually in browser separate from poe2 client could be not allowed ? Joke right?

Imagine player comes back after heavy looting and collected lots of unided high tier rares. E.g. maybe he/she noticed a gap on the market and targeted for particular rares farming. Then spends 20x time the game time to actually price items. Even with such overlay quick check these are only rough price estimates. It would be pretty terrible to actually force players to spend more time pricing the items then playing the game. POE2 is an ARPG, not economic game. Economy is always secondary.

But I get that they prefer to answer this way, so that they leave the door open.
