"Blackjaw" is one of this enemies that made me feel stupid for playing a game

Dunno if he is even called Blackjack, I'm using the german client.

It is that stupid, animated statue in Act 3 in this "lab" of some guy who's name starts with a J.
Can you just tone it down with this cheap ONE-SHOT mechanic please?

When he does his stupid overhead swing-combo, it is only up to luck if I live or die with my witch and it really is just stupid luck.
His attacks are so fast that when I notice his combo starts, I can already not truly evade it anymore and even if I see it coming, it doesn't really matter.

° Roll to the side -> get hit
° Roll backwards -> get hit
° Try to stay close and evade by running around him -> GET HIT

Worst boss by far.
Feels unfair, I can't do sh°° about this mechanic and my summons cannot get aggro really anyway and his stupid wombo combo also covers about 80% of the room's lenght.

I know sometimes Developers think now they must act like it is time to get serious but this is definitely not how to do it.
Nerf the range of this dumb attack please.
Stop making it hurl rocks forwards that catch me no matter what I do.

Update*

So, I have defeated him now. Two levels higher and a frostbuild, since he was vulnerable to frost even without a curse.

I pretty much spammed frostbomb & frostwall the entire time while trying to always stand at the other edge of the room from him.
Worked very well on my second attempt.
Frosted him in place two times too before he keeled over.

So while this is not an invicible boss, I wish his difficulty would still not come from his mightiest combo having so much range.
This three-times overhead swing combo is a cool move, but it really does not need this "rock-hand holding".

That made the boss feel very very cheap.
Please remove the "rock extension" of the attack or reduce the damage further the bigger your distance to him is.
How invested are you in defenses? I fought him with a summoner build with slight investment in ES passives plus I had a shield equipped. Only died to him a couple times, and that overhead attack you mention didn't 1shot me. Brings me uncomfortably close to 1shot, though.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

I invested with 3 points in talents that made my energyshield stronger, returned with 2 levels higher and then used icebomb and icewall to keep distance and make better damage on him, since he is very vulnerable two ice damage all the time.

Still got me oneshotted in his combo once when I stood to close but when I kept my distance and ice'd him reliably with the icewall + icebomb, it was easy to remain at max distance and even survive the combo when it hit me partially.

Only to later read on my server how many people hate this boss and how impossible he apparently is for a Ranger.
Yeah I can imagine that. You fight him in a claustophobic chamber, due to how fast he moves when he wakes up after losing about 33% of his health or such.

The pov from above feels a bit too close in general I feel.
And its crazy how often I got almost killed, or killed for getting stuck on the sh°° on the ground in Blackjaws bossroom.
If the room would be only one meter shorter in both directions, he would be OP.
Pretty high envasion build and tried side to side, starting to think to hug him to avoid this mess of a fight. I get if get by first and the overhand is the killing blow, but I dodge 2/3 attacks and seem you have to soak damage or pray is in a corner and run to otherside.

EDIT Found out in the 2nd phase, get close to him a lot back and forth.

@Cue
Sounds like a strat.

A few days in an now I feel silly for having even opened this topic.
On cruel difficulty I let him get hammered (no pun intended) by the lvl.14 skeleton summons with their big warhammers.

I didn't even need to use his weakness, ice, again.
They staggered him while doing solid damage and I had so much energyshield this time around that I could tank even his full combo once if it hit me in an unlucky spot of the room.

Feels wierd. In general I feel the Witch with summons is all about getting energyshield and skilling in summons & said energyshield.
Even my summons survive laughably long since most bosses go after me and not them.
And should they get lucky, I can still tank it for once and must only survive for the next 10 seconds to have my shield up again.

Blackjaw... the monster of Act.3 on normal difficulty, was pretty mediocre on Act.3 cruel difficulty.
Good gear really makes all the difference.
And dayum do I have a fine piece of torso gear right now.
Energyshield ratings are top.
