🎮🖱️⌨️ - Allow us to use keyboard + mouse + controller in PC.

Who's this for?

PC players. Mainly for everyone with a controller that wants to maintain keyboard + mouse features and U.I while playing with a controller.

How to replicate the problem?

1. Use your keyboard + mouse to log-in and pick the WASD mode.
2. Rebind your left joystick to WASD through any app (steam, joy2key, re-wasd, ahk, etc...)

What is the problem?

Because you are in keyboard + mouse + WASD mode the game assumes your will be facing the direction of your mouse.

For example, assuming my mouse is on the top right corner of my screen:
--- if I press [W] I move north, but the character is facing North-East!
--- if I press [A] I move west, but the character is facing North-East!
--- if I press [S] I move south, but the character is facing North-East!
--- if I press [D] I move east, but the character is facing North-East!

What is the expected behavior

[ w ] = moves the character north + the character faces north.
[ a ] = moves the character west + the character faces west.
[ s ] = moves the character south + the character faces south.
[ d ] = moves the character east + the character faces east.

This is the default movement + facing system that's enabled by default when you are in controller-exclusive mode.

What is the solution?

Give us an option that allows us to move + face enemies like we do when we are playing in controller-exclusive mode when we are in keyboard + mouse mode. That way we keep the excellent user experience of the keyboard and mouse and we are able to sit back with our controllers for everything else.

Need to type? NP! use the keyboard.
Need to manage inventory? NP! use the keyboard + mouse.

+1 to this

They can even keep the controller UI, but if u have a keyboard and mouse - you should be able to use mouse for UI interactions, and you should be able to use keyboard for chat, as minimum. It makes no sense at all that you are getting hard-locked into input method.

I saw some people here were talking about "potential exploits" with controller+mouse+kb - what the hell can you exploit this way? Good implementation is with D4 - you press a single button on keyboard or mouse - it switches to mouse+kb mode, you press a single button on controller - it immediately switches to controller mode, and you can never have both mode simultaneously active at same time, but it does not require logout and switches on the fly.

Initial problem - two completely separate user interfaces. There is zero reason to not have one unified UI. Because these two different UIs is the only reason why it needs a hard relog.
100% agree pls GGG

I frequently change between desktop and laptop and mouse+keyboard and controller. I find the gameplay alot easier and finger fatigue friendly on controller but navigating the menus is a pain

Where as keyboard can get sore hands rather quickly, I don't know how people play wasd for long periods of time over the click to move option but I get the appeal, I've played counterstrike my whole life.

But it's such an annoyance to have to logout and back in every time just to switch input methods. Surely they can just reload the scene from in game or something but manually logging out and in just to switch input methods shouldn't be a requirement in a game made in 2024.

I guess the "exploit" would be a macro of some sort, but that's achievable through so many other means that it trivializes the concern. Specially in POE, where the vast majority of the community used macros (log out macro or others) at one point or another.
