Player Frustrations: Lost Loot, Respawning Monsters, and Crafting Woes

The respawn mechanics of monsters and disappearing loot after player death can be frustrating, especially when it results in losing valuable items under unfair circumstances, like being killed by secondary threats after defeating a Boss or Rare. This system often feels punishing instead of challenging, leaving players with a sense of unfairness and diminishing the satisfaction of overcoming tough challenges.

To improve this, you could introduce quality-of-life changes, like persistent loot that stays after death or mechanics that balance difficulty without hindering progress. These adjustments would better reward skill and perseverance while reducing setbacks.

The lack of spec-specific items and crafting resources adds to the frustration of gearing. Players aiming to optimize their builds face a long, tedious grind, with rare drops locked behind tough battles or low probabilities. On top of that, crafting requires rare materials, creating a bottleneck where players struggle to find suitable gear and the resources to improve it.

Introducing targeted farming methods, adjusting drop rates for key items, or offering more rewarding crafting mechanics could reduce this grind. These changes would make gearing more accessible and let players focus on strategy rather than relying on luck.

I’ve decided to stop playing for now because of these issues. I’ll return once the game is officially released and, in the meantime, I’ll stick to POE 1
