How... do you tell if a weapon is 1H or 2H before equipping/buying it?

How... do you tell if a weapon is 1H or 2H before getting it from a vendor? Or rather how do you tell the weapon is compatible with holding a shield?

I mouse over weapons at vendors, weapons in my inventory, weapons on the ground and they don't indicate this anywhere... holding Ctrl, Alt, Shift or any keyboard key doesn't seem to expose this info either.

Edit: In the first game the tooltip tells you in plain english if the weapon is 1H or 2H, apparently in PoE 2 you're supposed to memorize how much inventory space 2H items consume... and use that as your only Tell.

Sorry, do you mean besides the second line on the item that says "one-hand mace" or "two-hand mace"? Because besides that, I'm not sure it tells you anywhere, no.

Edit: I guess after looking none of the caster weapons specify.

Staves and quarterstaves are all two-handed.
Wands and Sceptres are all one-handed.

Oh, so it's only Caster weapons that don't tell you this information. I did have someone in Global Chat chastise me for missing the blatantly obvious info in the tooltip which left me a bit confused but that explains it, it's missing for Caster gear.

Edit: It does say it in a sub-tooltip, gotta hover the item, hold Alt and then click the item type (Staff) and then, in this hidden tooltip you can see it is 2H.
