Insta Death Water Bubble + Warrior Skills
I just died yet again to water bubbles thanks to my Warrior skills literally taking so long to complete that I drowned before my animation even finished.
I started a leap, a river hag put up a water bubble under me, my leap skill slowed down from the slow effect, and before I even hit the ground I was dead. With 1600 HP, 75% all resists, and 50% armour. My HP dropped from full to zero in one tick. I should note that I just started Cruel difficulty, and I defeated the starting zone boss without even having to avoid any attacks, so it's not like I'm undergeared. I wasn't given an opportunity to dodge roll. I wasn't given an opportunity to move. The bubble was cast WHILE I was in the air--not BEFORE I jumped, in which case I could have avoided it. And the slow effect slowed me down so much I basically just sat on top of the bubble until I suddenly dropped dead. This is not fun design. Here are my suggestions: 1. Remove all of the instant death mechanics; they're obnoxious and frustrating; players should be able to tank attacks if they're sufficiently tanky 2. Speed up Warrior animations and skills 3. Fix Leap Slam to not get bogged down with you in midair. Even if you're frozen solid, momentum should still carry you through the rest of your leap. Last bumped on Jan 27, 2025, 8:45:34 AM

Agree with all of this. I came here after just getting frozen in mid air + bubble killed as a leaping warrior. Funny to see there was already a post.

Having instant-death mechanics in a game other than maybe major boss fights is insane to just include that on a fucking white mob, i dont care how 'easy' it is to avoid. Having insta-kill things promotes not even wanting to build defense in this game which is silly.

" Doesnt have to do with your warrior skills has to do with being reckless leap slamming all over the place and expecting safety. Pay attention and you wont have this issue. Drowning orbs arent an issue if you dont make it an issue yourself. |

Levelling a third warrior. Not a fan of the witch, for sure, and i really do think the bubble mechanic needs to be looked at.
that being said i have, across all three of these characters, not encountered a situation like what you are describing. I have lept through bubbles, i have rolled post-attack when one got to me, and i have cancelled out of attacks i was slowed during in order to distance myself from approaching bubbles. Are you sacrificing speed somewhere in your build for damage? |

exactly should be only on bosses a mechanic like this - its fine to focus on dodging instant kill mechanic on bosses, but keeping lookout 24/7 is not fine

" I assure you its not just a reckless playstyle thing. I have almost no problems with the hag on my witch, but that doesn't make them okay for other builds. Lets take 2-3 examples of mobility common to the warrior. 1. Stampede, as it stands stampede's janky function and decent clear makes it function as a main skill rather than utility movement but hell, people are going to try to use it in these moments right? You try to use it, you accept the wind-up time it takes before you get going anddddd.... your character doesn't actually move the enemies aside and for the first second of your supposed movement frames, you're actually charging on the spot. the game sends you 90 degrees in whatever direction it can find. In the moments it doesn't send you 90 degrees, you can die to the very thing you paid attention to and made a move to avoid. 2. A better scenario, but still fatal, Shield Charge or Leap Slam. Here monster blocking is less of an issue and more of a setting issue on whether players use them when they want to. But past that, there is then the way the terrain is visualized and handled in PoE2, where you're blocked by areas that seem indistinguishable on the map. Of course you're not usually fighting hags in a vaccuum, so this is more than enough to get the basic warrior archetypes killed by the hag bubble. Edit: Fundumentally, I'm actually okay with the hag being in the game, but not in either the base game's or the hag itself's current state. Last edited by Rekt_Sky#1296 on Jan 27, 2025, 3:09:10 AM

Agree, this is an atrocious mechanic for a white mob to have.
Imagine it having shroudwalker or temp bubble, it would kill ANY character without counterplay. Proper boogeyman. Melting Snowflakes Since 1987

don't leap slam around river hags. those bubble literally can catch you up in the air. why? because you can't avoid projectiles in the air in poe2 for some reason.
