Comparing Item Quality is Challenging

I don't mean pushing the right button.

I mean that it is not easy to look at two items and go "oh, that one is better" or to tell how much better it is.

There are a few reasons for this, I can discern.

1) Item (gear) score is hidden default. Why? The info is there, just show it. Why to I need to press Alt (or Right stick) to see it?
2) Ranges are hidden by default. See above comment.
3) the '6% lightning res' vs. '6 lightning damage' is confusing. Is the % of lighting damage a straight additive to the res or a 6% increase in what you have (meaning 6% or the 32 you have)? I know the answer now, after figuring it out...but it is not really clear.

Other notes on this area of the game:

1) when you compare items and want to equip the new items, the equip button (x on controller with PC) doesn't actually equip the new item. You have to leave the compare screen and equip directly from your inventory.

2) The font and color are not great. Just my opinion.

3) Why do some magic items have 3 affixes? the game says the limit is two...yet some have three.

That's all my thoughts for now. Thank you.

there is no item score, at least not in any way that effects what an item does for your character. the stats you can see on the item are the only thing the item is doing for you.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

There is an item level (as described above). And I am not talking about the minimum level required to use the item. There is a discrete descriptor on the tile called 'Item Level'

I get the stats are the ways it affects your character. But I presume the item level is meant to be a quick way to compare the quality of an item, in general terms. If that is not what it is, then I would be curious to know what it is intended for.

Thats not what item level does. Item level just determines how high tier mods this item can in theory get. It doesnt reflect power in any way.
