Mektul DPS check, really?

The Mektul boss fight is by far the most unfair and badly designed one I've encountered so far.

Not only is it not possible to leave the arena (although there is a very obvious exit at the other end blocked by an invisible wall), the whole fight is a stupid DPS check, so if you have a build that concentrated on defense more, you're screwed. Things like frost wall don't work either, because the f...er just barges through it.

Also, from a purlely RPG perspective, why the hell would any ranged char be so stupid to lower themselves down into such an arena with a crane instead of just killing that bosss from outside, but nooooooo, he's invulnerable until you're actually down there.

I can cope with a lot of crap the game throws at me, and most of the boss fights were good up to that point, but this is absolute bullshit design. Either make the arena way longer or tune the hitpoints to a degree a normal player can achieve with any build at that point without having top notch gear or running a glass cannon.

The reward is pathetic anyway as far as I've heard, so I'll just skip that fight for good or maybe come back when I'm completely overleveled.

The boss is an optional DPS check.

Its value is to tell you if you need to improve your build for later content.

If you lack DPS, better to learn it that way (as opposite to learning it when facing Napuatzi in cruel, for example).
It's a poorly designed boss. Thankfully it doesnt drop anything good like passive points or a bonus so just ignore it IMO.
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.
Heh this fight sucks

On Cruel the lava sometimes tickles, and sometimes instantly kills you when you tread in it at all, especially in the first third of the arena

In the end i beat it on cruel after a few attempts by switching my main attack to standard mace hit and adding all the damage increase gems, everything else hits way too slow, also use totem with armor break and weave in hammer of the gods on cooldown to beat the dps check with plenty of time to spare, almost everything else is way too slow and/or risks you stepping in the random damage lava

the reward is also trash so this is a straight up skip in campaign now.
I don't know why GGG doesn't test their game. Playing this as a melee class sucks, it's not fun. I beat him both on monk and marauder, and I just can't believe anyone tested this and thought "yep, this is good. let's do this"

Well, i am aware, im not going for high dps build, but why is there boss with timer to kill? it is very annoying. There is not much i can do now with bone spells, so i guess i will have to skip this boss...

another little annoying thing about this boss fight for Blood Mage is, most of my blood orbs end up in the lava. The way this arena is designed makes coming back for the orbs quite bad.

You can get stuck on one of the spikes and nothing can unstuck you.
