Cast on Ignite Worse than Useless?

I missed the boat on Cast on Freeze being super powerful, it was changed before I ever got a Cast on (Something) gem.

Today I tried Cast on Ignite. It takes up a gem slot, it costs 60 spirit, and what do I get in return?

I fought a very large pack of monsters with a powerful rare enemy, and it went off once, at the end of the fight, after everything was dead, and my build does nothing *but* ignite non-stop.

I am struggling to even imagine a single Gem that would be worth slotting in Cast on Ignites current state.

Why does this even exist if it is so utterly useless?


Now I understand that Cast on Freeze was apparently busted, but I don't think that's the fault of Cast on Freeze or any of the Cast on gems specifically.

What I see, is Comet being kind of ridiculous. I'm spec'd for fire damage, and Comet does more damage than my top three fire spells combined, for me, a fire spec'd mage.

It's other equivalents are Magnetic Salvo (I hear that is very strong with the right combo), Hexblast which pretty lackluster in comparison... using Elemental Invocation and Spell Echo to cast it somewhere between 8-10 times in combination with my Blasphemy Aura, it didn't do enough damage to kill a normal enemy, but used up 80% of my mana, Firestorm which is an absolute joke of a spell, missing an entire pack of enemies with almost every falling bit of fire, doing practically nothing at all to any of the monsters, after I specifically ignited them all to get the most out of it, and again, Elemental Invocation (at 100%) to spam it as much as possible... How is it that Comet is probably the defacto most damaging spell in the game regardless of your spec, and Firestorm at maximum capacity is weaker than a Solar Orb with no support gems?

I think the wrong thing got nerfed here. Also, please make Firestorm worth casting.

ive been trying to run coi ember fusillade with incinerate but it hardly goes off against packs of monsters, it feels really bad

i could use coi ember fusillade against bosses because they have high enemy power but i hate the inconsistency, it should just energise off your highest ignite so theres a consistent cast interval and make it much better
This is just classic GGG to be honest. One thing is overperforming? Nuke everything mildly related into the ground! Built for cast on crit, 100% with ball lightning, and packs still get tickled to death without a trigger because it's been nerfed so heavily that it's literally unusable.
When I see builds where people oneshot bosses where i was fighting 2 minutes as a frost sorc. I see other skills that kills everything with one shot, i´m wondering what this patch is for a joke. I mean, when ths cast on X was to fast, then make it 50% slower but this nerf was a punch in the face. I mean i dont see nearly any comets on normal mobs and i have every passive skilled that pushes this. I´m starting now a new char, but my motivation to play this game further shrinks
Yeah? How about you try cast on crit.
It requires 100 spirit and you need 300 energy to proc it. Not to mention, you will take all the crit nodes available and you could reach about 55% crit chance.

On top of that, you'll be having no mana because you have to spam spells in order to do all these crits.

Hey, how about this, be Invoker and take the ascendency for more energy?
The 45% energy boost will help! Because 1*1.45 = 1.45 which is rounded down to 1 definitely helps.
