Language selection not working in-game

I have a German Windows system (PC) and the POE2 launcher starts with German language (even though I have selected English as language in game). It seems to switch back every time after a client patch.

And in the login menu selecting another language and then login doesn't change the language (all texts remain in the previous language) - only after a restart of POE2 the language changes.
