Spaghettification node is unattainable for essence drain bloodmage

I am playing bloodmage witch with an essence drain chaos build, I’m having a very fun time with it and am currently lvl58 working my way through cruel mode. The spaghettification node that gives 7attribute 3movespeed chaos dmg is unattainable to me because of the 3% life cost on every cast node called event horizon right before it. I got the node and was not able to sustain on a mini-boss, drain my health pool and all my potions in about a minute. I took the node off and dropped the boss immediately with ease and no risks. It doesn’t seem right to have a strong chaos node fitting for any build, be unavailable to chaos classes. I think 2% would also be too much, and even 1% would be hard to play with. I have 11% spell leech which isn’t even noticeable if I have that 3% cost to cast anything. The bloodmage ascendancy itself is super manageable for me, even tho most of these guys in here complain about it! My build is overall functioning satisfactory, granted I’m near end of campaign and not yet in maps, but the 3% per cast drains my HP in seconds.
That node feels like it is designed for a chaos build, but makes a fast action chaos build to be unplayable. Looking forward to using it in the future. |

Added bloodmage thoughts:
Give the ascendancy 50%life/50%mana cost, instead of doubling it with 100%+100%, we should be buffed by an ascendancy rather than it becoming very very hard to play. (playable atm, but makes the game harder instead of easier) Or give us the 10% Spell Damage as Leeched Life (Vitality Siphon) as a part of Sanguimancy to offset the doubling to spell casting costs. Maybe if we take Blood Magic node, dont make us pay 200% life cost, and instead just let it remove the mana half? Large bosses make the Life Remnants hard to reach when they land under the boss in an inaccessible place, maybe give them some drift so they move towards the witch, or perhaps just make them bump away from the bosses? Example, the giant skeleton boss that comes out of the tower pit, we cant reach those life remnants. Just some thoughts :) LMK if anyone else has any suggestions to add! <3 |

Seconding this. Chaos damage, which is primarily DoTs, can't leech and therefore is unlikely able to sustain Spaghettification, a node for chaos damage. Additionally, Bloodmage should have been the chaos witch class fantasy, but it's so far seeming like an ascendancy with only downsides for people using Essence Drain, Contagion, Decaying Hex, poison, etc.

" Occultist is almost certainly going to be the third ascendancy. Bloodmage should be the physical/hit-crit one but they don't seem to have put much thought in it. They're the only ascendancy where you can't get both end nodes, the two branches that actually synergize instead of just being "random bullshit go" like the middle section. It's not to say you can't do anything with it, more that it feels like something out of an alpha test that never got updated to reflect a coherent direction in class concept. |

" In PoE 1 Blood magic gave you 10% health and removed mana. I don't know why in PoE 2 there's no "Bonus" for removing mana. |
