Class ascendancy seems aspirational

If you put class advancements in a game, the idea is that classes are supposed to be able to advance.

My high HP pool gemling quarterstaff character is kind of useless in sanctum, the hp pool does not translate, but other mitigation does. Guess I should have stayed in the class box.

So it'll be up to the dices to see if I make it through the trials. Which makes no sense. Let a dice roll determine whether your character has prepared enough to advance.

When I started in Perandus, armour/regen classes had a cake walk through the lab, while evasive/leech characters had a much harder time. There was so much commotion involving lab, and every time you reduced the difficulty and made it less of a hurdle, players were happy with it. And afaik, it never had downsides in the end.

So why did you double down on it like this?

When Heist launched, it was mechanically invalid, but with an overhaul it turned into an enjoyable playstyle for many. It can happen when you experiment. But we kind of have enough evidence that people don't like to run into unfair class advancement don't we?

What's a guy with a thorns build gonna do? Diablo 2 had thorns builds, but not sanctum...

Players now have options. Love much of the game though. Just don't understand why you need to have this energy going around. A simple class based quest would have done it.
Did you try turning it off and on again?

Or, in other words, "nobody likes honor. Stop doing that."
Let me know when trials for skills are out of this game, and Ill come back and enjoy everything else I love about it. Im done until there gone. What a crock of shit.
Just want to throw my hat in - yup, honor system sucks for melee. As a Monk, I also was unable to cast staggering palm on the boss 11 consecutive times because his large arms blocked my character from touching the stun icon. Very frustrating.
On top of that only 7 trial ultimatums drop until very late in the game and you don't even get the points for your THIRD ascendancy from them. What kind fo troll is this? Not to mention Ultimatum is as overtuned as ever and should have nothing to do with ascendancies aswell. But at the very minimum fix the fact that you don't get ascendancy points for 7 trials. Who is gonna do that just for loot and fun in this kidn of state?...

Trials need to go
i dont like that ascending feels like side content and not part of the main story and campaign. it should be mandatory to ascent as part of the acts in a manner that ties everything together and not something u can skip or fail to even be able to achieve.
It does feel like you get to ascend when you're already strong as hell, not as a path to progress.

1st and 2nd ascendancy were a cake walk, then it's straight into a wall for 3rd/4th.

Playing a warrior where I tank damage to get my slow attacks off is not a good plan for Sanctum2 but it's my build. In poe that would be fine, I would just not engage with Sanctum, but when Sanctum2 is very core it feels like I've lost out with a tanky build.
