The hard truth about Path of Exile 2 and modern gaming in general

That's a shit take tbh. The game was pitched as 4.0, then they said the scope was too big, so they are going to separate them and then we get Ruthless and a couple of years later Ruthless 2.0

So again follow the hands:

4.0 -> too big + different game -> Ruthless 2.0

How tf did that happen? Somewhere between the "4.0" announcement and the Ruthless 2.0 announcement a lot of people were hyped out and bought supporter packs. Then we slowly started getting these hints:

"The game is going to be slower"
"The game is going to be harder"
"The game is going to be yada yada yada"

That's not how you conduct business.

People will swallow that pill, but GGG did it once and they will do it again.

They said PoE 1 is still there for us to play but it won't be. I am willing to bet next league is going to be really bad and after the next league GGG will just allocate a skeleton crew to PoE 1. Since most people won't buy any supporter packs (at least en masse) because it would mean giving money for PoE 2, GGG will start getting less money from PoE 1 and in a year-year and a half it will probably enter maintenance mode and die out without any leagues / bad leagues like Diablo 3 did.

At it's core that's why most people are still going to be vocal about that. Because we have no where to go basically. We either get our 4.0 or we are left with no good ARPG.

Not every game needs to be for every person. You buying a game does not mean they must cater to you. You being a long time player does not mean the game has to cater to you either. You spending money does not mean the game has to cater to you. I use to love world of warcraft. It stopped being fun so I moved on. For awhile I was upset, I made rage posts, I got upset in general chat. The truth is the game is made for someone else now and that is fine, we have games coming out every single day and ARPG's alone have had multiple releases in the last year. If a game is for everyone its actually for no one and that approach by game developers ( to make as many people play and thus siphon as much money as possible) is the driving reason why games are bland, stale, and seemingly "for no one"

Many of you will look back on these posts and feel incredible shame. You can delete them and most of them will be forgotten but you know that you lost control of your emotions over a video game that isn't scheduled to be fully released for at LEAST 6 months.

Path of exile 1 is still here, diablo 4 is still here, last epoch is around. Hell, you can play hero siege but the truth is you're all here for a reason and that is because GGG has impressed you in some way or another.

Relax, take a chill pill, go play another game or better yet take a break from games entirely. Cheers

Will you look back on this post and feel incredible shame for being a preachy windbag with no real point?

This. At this point, I just want them to put the graphical update in PoE1, so that they can have their vision for 2 and we can have our 4.0. Seeing how they butchered the skill system, the new passive skill tree, the new ascendancy and the new end game mapping, I prefer no updates to that in 1.
The entitlement is off the charts. Every single John Rodgers video about this game has said that items will be scarce, the game will be hard, and you will have to think about your actions going as far as to say it will be souls like but an APRG. Either you missed it or your ego will not allow you to accept this game is beyond what your capable of without putting in some effort.

Plenty of people are enjoying the game even brand new poe players. That should sink in but it won't. That is on you.

if people go play other games they won't make money... A game with this much put into it, needs to make money and need the many not the few.

So communicate that your are doing a Ruthless mode game that has nothing to do with PoE 1.

I feel betrayed and fooled by GGG.

It was LITERALLY going to be poe 1 expanded, as a SINGLE GAME if that is not poe 1 with better graphics what is?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcd9BfVw7hQ&t=349s is the reason me and a lot of others were excited for PoE2.

They changed direction somewhere along the way and made... this.

The game can have scarce items and be hard but still be fun. What they made is, for me and clearly a lot of others with me, a boring, tedious game.
