Ultimatum for Ascendancy has got to go, worst design decision EVER..

I HATE ULTIMATUM, always have,always will..

This stupid shit wastes ones time in a major way as done in POE2..
I tried this crap at lvl, failed hard, then i over leveled by 15 levels, i am like 52 or so, and i still can't do it.
Either i get swarmed, or the RNG of the negative boons just obliterate me, and 10 fucking rounds of this shit, it will take an hour at least to do for me only to die at one of the later rooms..
Yeah, that ain't happening not now, not ever.. So i will either just get on with the game as far as i can, and hope for another invite to the sanctum crap, or have to stop playing if the lack of the 2 points will hinder me in getting from act4 to act5 and onwards, as i was told the invites for acendancy 2 sanctum only begin to start dropping in act5.. But what do i know..

I also hate Sanctum, but at least that was somewhat doable, but i still do not like the mechanic.

I never thought i would wish Labyrinth was in the game instead of the 2 single most worst mechanics POE has to offer..

Please GGG if this is truly the way you want to do this going forward, at least make it a choice which one you can do at the appropriate level.

Sanctum honor mechanic is obviously to make a hard ascendancy that wont kill you in hardcore.

Different builds handle each ascendancy differently.. but if you are having trouble, it is probably solvable by changing your build or skills
And Sanctum, and Sanctum! Unless they make it one floor per ascendancy (i.e. start a floor 4 for the last two points), in which case one can give it a try.
Yep, absolutely agree. It's completely mind boggling to think that they thought "Yeah, this is awesome. People are going to love this!"

It's actually the main reason I quit the game. I figured that if I can never ascend, there's no point in continuing to maps, because I need though points in order for my character to be decent.
I love the game, the difficulty of it, the beautiful graphics, the animations when your toon is casting, rolling etc.

It´s very hard in the beginning, but its getting better over time. I like that too.

But it feels like GGG decided on purpose to put the 2 most hated mechanics into this game as a gatekeeper for build defining ascendencies (which the really aren´t right now), just because they are hated so much. Like, "oh you disliked our work and tried to avoid it in POE1? So we shove it down your throat"

You are supposed to finish the trials with you level is matching the trials lvl, right? But this only works for a few player.

Ultimatum is the most random encounter, where just pure lucky rolls of the stacking negative modifiers, hopefully matching your build, will let you survive the encounter. And you need that luck TEN TIMES IN A ROW. Thats just sadistic, not challenging. As a caster, its brutal and feels like a punishment.

Sanctum is a little better for ranged builds, but horrible for melee.

So a melee toon can handle ultimatum but not sanctum, and a ranged toon can handle sanctum, but not ultimatum.

This feels just bad, man.

Sure there are is a percentage of players which did it. But at what costs (time/grind/lucky drops) At least 50% of the playerbase should be able to achieve this without thinking about to quit the game.
The campaign is good, the bosses are amazing, some are a bit squishy for my taste but overall it is really good. When I got to do the ascendancy.. man, it is a pain in the ass. I am quit doing the third, the mechanic is so bad, I hate it. I really hope they change the way to ascend.
My main problem with Ultimatum was that most of the monsters were moving way faster than I could (without any movement speed increase on the boots, since I haven't found any), so I got cornered two times by the mob.

However, you don't have to do 10 rounds although it says so when you start the challenge. At least after the last update it was four (or five?) rounds in act 3 regular, the last one being the boss fight. The boss itself is not that dangerous (at least for a ranged character), but it was tedious af because the annoying bastard kept flying around so I spent almost 2/3rds of the fight to run after him.

I think Ultimatum is better than Sanctum, because at least that stupid honor system isn't a thing here, but yeah, those mob speeds should to be tuned down. Until they do it, get boots with at least +20% movement speed, that should help.
