Patch 0.1.0Diablo4 (free respecs were a LIE)

seems like someone was asleep at the wheel when this got pushed.

nerfs?
necessary, perfectly fine.

completely nuking the build?
bit questionable, but if the devs want it gone then ok.

not giving us passive resets for big changes like jonathan said they would multiple times?
VERY diablo-like.

ahh theres the dishonest miscontextualization. one point on my bingo card.

build is bricked, spent my gold on some nice vendor gear for the build yesterday.
loads of other people are bricked.
we can hardly kill white mobs because of how heavy the nerfs were.
monks also got slammed by this.
the developer stated multiple times that they would give free respecs for things like this. they did not follow through.

do you want to farm 150k gold for me?
or does it sound more reasonable for them to provide the free respecs that jonathan stated they would give ?

While I was more in the camp of "too-bad-for-you but maybe something should be done about respecs" I'm now FIRMLY in the camp that respecs need to be made available after every major patch [at the minimum].

One or more of the following would be the right thing to do in my opinion:

1. Give each player a single "entire character reset" .. this would be a one time thing similar to what players in "standard" PoE get from time to time. I'd likely also allow respecs out of ascension AND having replacement skill, support, spirit gems available.

2. Dramatically reduce the costs for passive respec for an entire week after any significant nerf even if that nerf is targeted to one or two skills. This would allow multiple respecs to be possible until you find a new series of builds that work for you.

3. Create an A1 quest during the week after a major reset that would do the same as 1 above. Basically unlimited free respecs for about a week.

it would be nice if gems ect were also reset.
i probably have enough of them to get rolling again but there are certainly people out there who dont.

reducing cost would still leave a lot of people, myself included, unable to do anything.
i had a godly wand/focus roll on a vendor that cost me nearly 30k yesterday. that along with some other buys means that i can currently change like... 4 points.

this is such a massive, obvious fumble on GGGs part (hence the d4 reference)

I'm playing cast on crit and the only thing they changed for me personally is that eye of winter went from used on trash, to not used at all. I have the same clear speed pre nerf with frost nova so nothing really changes for me except it fundamentally feels worse.

The problem is that for some of the people, the cast on x was their clear speed on white mobs not bosses, and the amount they nerfed it (20 times nerf) is actually affecting their clear speed by more then a factor of 20. If i try to proc cast on crit with 62%+crit rate on eye of winter (a spell with tons of projectiles designed for clearing trash mobs mind you). It takes me 40+ seconds to kill them with eye of winter.... With +6 to ice gems, 62+% crit rate, and 350+ crit multi, on campaign mobs pre maps at lvl 75. (and I won't get a single cast on crit proc until clearing 7+ packs of monsters) But I can proc cast on crit with 1 single frost nova crit.

What I'm trying to allude to is that while I can simply gem swap to ice nova, the majority of players who spent 20-80 exalts on getting 5 links and gcp's to 20% quality their gems that are now worthless, on top of taking 20-50 seconds to dispatch 3 white mobs since their build fundamentally doesn't work. Making farming the required 250-350k gold to respect becoming a 10+ hour grind with their non existent clear speed post nerf.

Honestly, the way they nerfed the meta gems is just wrong, they will have to rework the numbers or they are completely dead. I knew they were way over tuned but this wasn't the right fix at all.

i cant think of a way they could possibly handle this worse.
the nerf was clearly coming, 100%. but holy hell the respec here is so obvious.
GGGs silence on this issue is deafening.

Why no further comment devs?

- Fixed a bug which prevented the elevator at end of The Trial of Chaos from working to access the Trialmaster Boss.
- Fixed a bug which could prevent the Portal from appearing on Floor 4 of Trial of the Sekhamas.

This patch has been deployed without restarting the servers. You will need to restart your client to receive the client changes in this patch.

April fools day in December maybe?
If they do that, people are gonna continue to request it after release.
It's an early access folks.... you know what you signed up for. Restarting a character shouldn't be so big of an issue.
