Both Trials are unfun and should be replaced
I like this game a lot. Id say its the best game ive played in a few years. I enjoy playing the witch hunter.
I really dont like either of the trials. Sanctum and Ultimatum are both terrible mechanics in poe1, and they are even worse here. I have gotten a lot of tank stats on my character for taking sustained damage and that has come at a cost of damage etc. In sanctum life, defense, mitigation and recovery are effectively removed as you have a new life bar to manage. This means that only glass cannon builds are suited for it. Glass cannons are very unfun to play and are mostly a joke build. I imagine sanctum would be even worse in melee. The trial of chaos has too many modifiers that brick certain classes. Additionally many of the modifiers are bugged or have poor hitboxes and visual feedback. The bosses are also broken. The bird man will turn invisible, and the chimera will leave the battlefield for upwards of two minutes at a time. PoE1's lab is a great fit for PoE2 seeing as it rewarded careful maneuvering and taking it slow, two things which are *very* present in PoE2. I think that a Vaal labyrinth would be super cool. I would be happy every time I get to play it. I am planning on avoiding ascending further as long as i can because the trials feel bad to play. Missing out on a key part of character progression due to the process of getting it being an aweful experience feels bad. Last bumped on Dec 12, 2024, 3:23:44 AM

I agree
the lack of a real labyrinth is such a lore and gameplay fail its unreal lets stick the two LEAST played mechanics and make them CORE character progression Its like chatgpt made this game. |

Is there any practical reason why the act bosses can't just give us the points? The ascendancies aren't really powerful enough to warrant doing anything special for them anyway since they've gone through many rounds of power shedding from their original inception. If we're going to have them so nerfed compared to their original power then they either need to be DRAMATICALLY MORE POWERFUL or much less obtuse to get. Streamlining it so acts 1, 2, 4, and 5 give one ascension point and acts 3 and 6 give two ascension points.
Furthermore, if they're just going to baby bird all of Path of Exile's features without changing them dramatically then what is the point of a path of exile player even playing the sequel? I think they need to go back and redesign ascendancies entirely for POE2 so that it can be a distinct feature. IGN : Reamus

Don't worry. Act 4 is gonna be set in Ngamakanui so get ready for Trial of the Ancients.
People like that right |

Sanctum has the same issues it has in PoE1.
Ultimatum modifiers think we are still in PoE1. | |

" I actually really like this idea, just give 1 point at the completion of each act boss. I think a new system could be added in the future but it obviously needs more time and development. I can already feel the league bloat and the game isnt even out yet. Last edited by h3xd#1039 on Dec 12, 2024, 1:12:38 AM

I love this game. I have over 10k hours in the Original game and short of some minor nitpicking I am having a great time.
The second run of trials SUCK. I've done hard mode stuff on POE and these trials are so ruthlessly hard its almost laughable. I have 2 inscribed ultimatums with 7 trials that I got from maps that say they don't give ascendancy points, this makes zero sense to do 7 level 66 chaos trial rooms straight and not get ascendancy points for it. This seems like a bug but perhaps that is correct. I've got exactly TWO Djinn Barya's that were high enough to give ascendancies. failed both and now I'm back to mapping, which has been completely trivial by comparison. First one got to floor 3, traps do 100%, mobs have 50% more health, I can't see any room, and I have 0 evasion. dodge roll to avoid one trap to open a door and get hit ONCE for 1900 honor. Ya thats totally fair. /s Second time got to floor 3, pretty much the same result. This is total nonsense and there is a fine line between "a rewarding challenge" and "I'll wait til I outlevel this by 20 levels and go back" or "guess I'm good with only 4 ascendancy points" Everything needs to be toned down like 20-40% at least, There is no reason that they need to be this difficult. having 3 floors where there is a good chance you get an unavoidable mod that will cause you to 100% fail is terrible design. "oh you're playing Chaos Innoculation? would be a shame if you get the no energy shield mod and die from 1 hit by anything" |

" I had one chaos mod that looked like the vaal omnitect from Temple of Atzoatl in the first POE spawn right on top of me and kill me instantly, was a good time. I got to the Manticore and died to random nonsense on the map because he kept flying out of the arena and would only land for like 5 seconds before flying away again. Bosses and mobs with invuln phases are another big gripe of mine, they should have a cooldown on invuln phases that doesn't start until they exit the invuln phase and it should be, minimum, 20 seconds.
The Brine King was the dumbest possible boss encounter for exactly that reason. Dude spent a full minute in an invuln phase any time you wanted to kill him. IGN : Reamus
