If you've tried all the other crash workarounds and are DESPERATE, try this
Nevermind, don't do this on second thought. Wait for GGG to fix it.

I tried this but I still froze trying to leave the town in act 1 cruel difficulty.
I didn't try any of the other solutions during this attempt but it likely wouldn't have made a difference as they hadn't in the past. The only difference between how you did it and how i did it was I just disabled permissions for my user and I did see that none of the three folders had any files written to them so it was at least effective in doing that. |

I am unsure why you delete the post, but this is the only thing that worked for me and resolved the issue of crashing constantly on loading screens and having to reboot pc.

I had a small issue with a master boot record on a SSD NVMe this morning, so I thought it's probably safest to take the post down. It might not even be related. I just had to do a /fixmbr. Here's the post. Use at your own risk. There's no telling how GGG's code behaves when it can't access those folders.
------- It would be wise before attempting this to first try all the "standard" fixes for the loading screen crashes, such as Maximum processor state at 99%, removing a few cores from CPU affinity (e.g. Process Lasso), Vulkan vs. DirectX12, Multithreading, etc. Please don't try this if you aren't a little tech savvy. This is a (potential) band-aid for the loading screen crashes in Path of Exile 2 Early Access 0.1.0d. It involves the folders Minimap, ShaderCacheD3D12, and ShaderCacheVulkan. Those are folders that PoE2 writes to for the shader caches. Some people (myself included) report that at least some of the crashes seem to be linked to shader caches. Without dealing with the shader caches in some way, I am hardly able to get beyond the first few loading screens. Let's go screw with some permissions. The gist is to prevent the game (which runs as YOUR USER in terms of access level) from writing to these folders. " |
