Why characters don't share the same passive tree?

What is the benefit of this?
Couldn't the Sorcerress anodes and Witch nodes be just in the same place? Can't it be design that choice of class doesn't change your passive options?

What?

It's like being surprised that two people don't share the same limbs or stomach or something.

You Diablo boys are weird.

Also the passives don't move, you're starting point on the tree does...

Diablo games didn't share skill trees between classes. You POE people are weird.
I think he is asking why the witch and sorceress have different starting nodes even though they start in the same location.

I think they do this so they can have more classes without making the tree even bigger than it already is.

In diablo characters don't share their skill trees (or maybe in the new ones they have a skill tree they share. don't know, don't care).
In Path of Exile all characters have the same passive skill tree.
In Path of Exile 2 for example wtich and sorceress have different passive skills trees (different nodes). This is and probably will be true for all classes.

Why did they change this from PoE1?
PoE1 difference between characters was starting point and ascendencies. I think that was a good system.

For one, now you don't know what you can expect with different classes. You might want as a monk to use some nodes of the sorceress, but when you go there, they are different. (Of course you check before, but you can't just remember one tree).

I belive that devs can create a single tree with all important nodes, less not important ones, and connected them in such a way, that it will be single tree. I belive because they done this before. And in PoE2 starting locations are closer to the middle.

Baited.

Still would love to know what is the purpose. And why we just can't know one skill tree and have to figure out for each character what is different.

For Sorceress and Witch you could have both of their nodes places on a single tree. Subtracting less intersting nodes, and making some connections between other branches would make it also better for stranger builds using characters from a different part of the tree.
