trying poe 2, not enjoying this ruthless expansion of POE 1

I have played about 20 hours now. I have never really felt good about the progression through the game.

The game is feeling like the harder stuff is at the beginning. Can't say, moving at a snail's pace. Which isn't fun to be honest. Maybe someone new wouldn't know the difference but I have played POE 1 and that is far better paced.

Over all feel of the game is just super punishing.

If I ever do decide to get passed the trial of chaos, it's not gonna feel like something that I am happy I went through, it's just gonna be more like "finally got through that $h!t". And it's feeling a lot more like the later.

Feedback if they care anyways, would be to remove both the trial of chaos and the ascendancy trial which was replaced by sanctum. These were by design made to limit people's speed. But both those concepts are highly dependent on specialized builds. They are extremely punishing if you happen to have the wrong build.

And what's worse is you can't just change up your build.

That's just a hard reset.

So yet another way they punish players, and in particular new players.

You're design choices aren't explained so they come off confusing and out of touch with what some of what the content creators are talking about.

They are the most genuine feed back you could ever ask for. They have reality on what the game is like because they are willing to play it- really suffer through it at this time.

They try to provide feedback in a positive way, but it feels as though it goes on deaf ears.

So it appears the heads of GGG are just assuming they "know best". Well they know best on how to build it, but when other people use it and says it's not that good, there is a reason. And they would be the wisest guys to actually find out if it really is.

Anyways cool game. just not as enjoyable as the prior version.

I look forward to POE 1 new season. I would even prefer the ruthless version of POE 1 over this version. The roll mechanic is super annoying. Literally every monster stops you and the game is tailor made to have 90% of the places with little corridors, total cringe.

Sorry to say. I really do just mean to say what it's like with me with no critizing of the work put it. I know it's alot. But I am feeling now you guys are just neglecting your best product and letting it rot. It's been stagnant for over 3 months now.

What you fail to percept is the fact they had to make this game VERY different, so the PoE 1 would still be appealing to anyone. Its pretty obvious to me they didnt want to canibalize their game, so they made the second one SO DIFFERENT, that there is a place for both of them.

Apparantely 2 is not for you, but its okay. 1 is not for me and many others.

"perceive"

OP has solid points. You're making assumptions about GGGs business model, that brings nothing at all to the table.

You don't spend years building an expansion (EXPANSION was what POE players were told was coming, not a whole new game in the POE universe) with the goal of alienating your existing players in the hope to get all-new players. I can say with 100% certainty that is not what GGG set out to do and it's not what they want to happen today. They spent a fortune in energy and willpower to carry over all MTX support, their intent is clear. It is to hold on to their new players AND grow their market.

Oh please. This isn't a school playground.

This is a pretty good post.

POE 2 is disappointing. This is what as been delivered after 6 years of blood, sweat and tears ? Where has all the genius gone. All there is at the moment is a Frankenstein put together from parts of POE - and not even the best parts.
Honestly it feels like poe1 is the evolution of poe2 lol, super weird, i was enjoying the game before they nuked my character tho.
Guys... PoE2 is a different take on of the ARPG Genre. When PoE1 started, the passive skill tree was huge, but also felt very empty. The passive tree from PoE2 is, what I would call, a basic start. From here on out, GGG will keep polishing it. It will look very different in like 6-12 month. That's what EA is for.

Ofc you could argue that they have all the experience from PoE1, but trust me: If you create a new game with tons of new mechanics, it's really hard to dish out a perfect product. That's why they need EA. That's why they need (good/helpful) feedback.

I trust that GGG will tackle all the issues PoE2 has right now. And if they don't and get out of EA, people will have good reasons to start complaining. But now after 6 days of launch? At least give GGG a chance to tweak the game...

What level are you?
Ehh POE Ruthless is easier. The further I get into POE 2 the more sick it becomes. I am in act 2 on 3 different chars and its a zerg fest with bosses that make ruthless kitava look easy. Kripparian plays ruthless a lot and his take on this is somthing i agree with 99%.
