Corpsewade poison gas scaling

Wondering how Corpsewade scales.

The gem says that poison is being dealt as if the initial poison hit is 40.5% max life. I don't see any indication that it scales with spell damage or chaos damage - does that mean that the 40.5% is fixed?

I thought there was a similar item in PoE1, but I was thinking of Bubonic Trail, which just straight up explodes the corpses and says explicitly that modifiers to spell damage don't apply.

I got a unique that gives you lvl 5 version of this in A1 and I'm playing poison already so it was kind of nice.

I'm really confused about how poison scales ATM. To me it sounds like scaling physical or chaos damage for my initial bow hit determines your baseline and then mods to poison magnitude scale the poison. I have zero clue if scaling %chaos damage will affect the poison after the initial hit (assuming the initial hit had some chaos damage in it, if it didn't than the %chaos would be useless?).

The way I read the poison description it seems that way, but I have no clue. I've had two bows, one with more phys. DPS than the other, the other having more DPS because of added ele damage. And my poison DPS was higher with the ele bow for some reason. Bug I'm assuming?

Right now I think it's best to grab poison magnitude and +lvls to scale the skill itself. I don't think you'll be able to scale "the hit" magnitude to make it bigger than the 40%, but I could be wrong and chaos might scale it. I just don't know lol.

This is the route I went; although it does suck to give up your boot slot - there are so few options for increasing movement speed at this point in EA.

I think the Bow skills do scale off the initial hit (at the very least, Gas Arrow sounds like it works this way, not sure about Poisonburst), so theoretically a stronger bow would make the poison stronger - that's probably a case where I'd be less inclined to trust the in-game tooltip.
