Legendaries with NEGATIVE attributes: Seriously?

So far have had about five legendaries drop. All but one have attributes that increase damage taken or decrease damage delivered. And the net sum of all the stats is negative to simple magic items rather than being anything special.

Who wants a staff that gives 98% lightning damage but makes you bleed for 30% damage with every hit taken, and the damage you get stacks at that. Or a helm that adds 100% mana regen but reduces your max mana by 25%.

Even disenchanting it seems worthless, so the only value is in gold (enough to buy a random equivalent) or a chance shard (whatever that is), neither seem much for as rare as they are.

What is making the game even worse is I just received a rare helm that has a negative attribute. Couldn't DE it fast enough.

The game has a fair distance to go before it will be fun to play; paying to be an alpha rat was something I chose, so no complaints there: but I have reached my POE2 farm limit. That's saying something a only level 18.

I really want to see this rare helmet with a negative attribute.
It had an attribute that when hit you lost max mana %. Similar to the negatives on the legendary armor that has dropped for me.

Seems that the RNG range on attributes spans + to - values, thus any given attribute can actually be detrimental. Noteworthy are the lvl 14 items with lessor attributes than items that dropped for me at lvl 1.

Here's the leg helm:

Yeah I dont understand who thought the negative attributes are fun..

Found a nice legendary item yesterday, great stats except it had -10% move speed. So it would cancel out my boots.

Like.. why..

Or there is a keystone passive that let's you have a second curse. But it doubles the already annoying activation delay, making cursing even more clunky.

I don't get it.
Keystones always have downsides otherwise you would grab every one you pass. They are generally very powerful and sometimes build defining nodes.

And maybe I haven't reached far enough into the game yet, but the only way you could get negative stats on a non unique item in poe1 was by engaging with kalandra mechanics, and i don't even think they added that to this game. Again, I could be wrong as I've intentionally avoided watching any vids on the game aside from the reveal. Maybe someone farther along can enlighten me, but you may have just misinterpreted the affix on that rare helmet.
Far more likely they mixed up the rarity, orange items in other games are often legendary while they are called uniques here. It’s not uncommon for uniques have drawbacks.
