Just finished the campaign on cruel - A list of issues
overall i like the game a lot and am really looking forward to seeing it feel more complete and polished with the addition of the missing pieces. I thought I'd write a list of things that bothered me while leveling as i thought it might be useful.
-I like the larger zones but backtracking through empty areas feels bad. -I like there being less loot but i'm finding that the bottleneck on crafting items is the number of bases i find, which feels awkward to me. -I had significant graphical errors in the latter half of act III. My computer is quite old but it does meet the minimum listed requirements on the steam page. Utzaal in particular was difficult to play through because enemy models frequently failed to load and so were invisible. -Getting to where I want to be in act III after the time portal opens feels like a headache. needing to go through the portal to sell things is awkward and i ended up needing to clear through the beach three times because the portal kept bringing me there instead of town. I'm going to give up on bringing these remaining idols to oswald because the portal appears to be gone altogether now. -The wind section in the fight with the act 2 boss seems to deal damage even while you are behind the sekhema's barrier, but not if you spam dodge roll? not sure if this is intended but it felt quite counterintuitive to me. -Uniques don't appear to drop on advanced or expert bases which feels really weird to me. Are there just meant to be no high level uniques with the exception of caster weapons? -Autoaim is really annoying with certain skills and you should be able to turn it off -The maraketh arc was a bit uncomfortable considering the Ardura's relatively extreme violence towards people they consider lower class. I don't think its a bad thing to depict problematic cultures in a nuanced way like has been done here, but if we're going to be traveling with these people and treating them as allies it would feel good to at least be able to do some sort of sidequest that allows the player to take something of a moral highground. I am hoping there will be some content to this effect in the full game. All in all i enjoyed the increased exposition of the maraketh people even if the act itself left me feeling somewhat emotionally uncomfortable. -Waystones could use a tab, even just a repurposed map tab. -it can be hard to tell what supports affect given skills. SRS doesn't have its minion stats shown anywhere that i can tell, and i'm not sure if the number shown for infernal hound's ignite is just the base number or if using supports that scale the hound's damage just don't actually scale the ignite. I would expect searing flame to work, but i'm not sure if concentrated effect does, and as far as i can tell there isn't anywhere i can get the information. Last bumped on Dec 10, 2024, 3:00:50 PM
