Why can we not change ascendancies? Like an actual reason that makes sense not nonsense please.

I work full time and have little time to play, I did take time off to play the early access release with my friend who was against me playing a minion build. he has since quit and now I'd like to respec, but I cant change ascendancy? why? I dont want to make a new character and lose days of my life, especially because you cant have duplicate names and this character has the name I want... What I'm supposed to delete it then? Start over? what an offensive waste of time.

Please introduce a way to re pick your ascendancy, even if its by rerunning a difficult trial.

I cant think of any logical reason for intentionally locking this out.
