Trial of the Sekhemas/General item pickup

I'm playing the game with an xbox controller and I'm trying to do the Trial of Sekhemas and theres some trials where I have to click on crystals before the timer runs out. The issue is that the A button (X for playstation) is prioritizing attacking nearby enemies over confirming or interacting with whats next to me. This goes with chests and items in general. Also when I play with my friend and theres items for both of us its hard to precisely pick the items that i want to grab instead of grabbing all of them. I think that when the items drop they get separated and greyed out for each other so its easier to pick items. Or me able to use the right analog stick to aim at which item that drops for me I actually want to pick up
