The gem actually works fine for me. It grants 50% more area, which means that it grants ~22.5% more radius. Radius increase is the square root of area increase, since area increase is 1.5 (50% more), then radius increase is sqrt(1.5) = ~1.225 or 22.5% increase. This works just fine with me.
