Trials of Chaos act 3 is wildly overtuned
The first trials of chaos you encounter are ridiculous. I've come back after 15 more levels and tons more power and its still literally impossible to get passed wave 3.
The modifiers are completely unfair, not difficult, actually unfair. The AoE effects proc way too often, cover the entire map and eventually become impossible to avoid doing way too much damage. The monster spawn and density makes it incredibly difficult to avoid any modifiers or complete collection objectives. How am I supposed to collect and deposit soul cores when there is literally not a split second where there are no monsters rushing me while im also trying to avoid traps. my experience:
get shit detriments. forced to take shittier detriment instead of shittiest. happens few times. boss is the chimera boss. chimera boss traits include huge ass aoe. huge ass telegraphed attacks VERY WELL DESIGNED BOSS detriment i got. huge ass aoe that will blow up with the safe area inside the small circle. OR outside the circle. i needed to sneak a few hits. run like a bitch to the other end of the world. come back. sneak a few hits. repeat for "ever". make a mistake. dies. repeat. detriment i got. lightning areas. huge ass area denials. so many ways i cant hit the boss as i literally cant get close. forced to use shockwave like skills. "trumelee RIP". took less time as i made a misstep and died. decide to overlevel a little before returning. change my build so i could regen hp. rolled a flask to gain charges over time. i m gonna fucking cheese the boss! retry. whoa i m lucky. all the detriments are manageable! this is MY TIME! WTF got a bird boss i never seen before instead. die to a skill i've never seen before. retry. same. but this time got a different boss. died to a skill i've never seen before. retry. this time i got to work. worst detriment i got was turrets shooting out projectiles. i think i spent a good 10-20 minutes. hitting the boss, tanking the hits then afking at the corner of the map until i got my hp/charges up. to repeat. 0/10 dont want to do again. but prolly might be forced to for later ascendencies [Removed by Support]

Ultimatum mechanic in general is not playable by all builds and then you add in the detriment RNG where you pray for a manageable option or have to quit/reset.
I don't understand why they are forcing Sanctum/Ultimatum on players when most people skipped it in POE1 unless they were specifically targeting the mechanic with an optimized build for that content. Overall ascension feels overly painful and tedious which most will struggle through then never touch it again. |
