Collision, Hitboxes and Body Blocking
I should preface this by saying that I don't have an issue with the idea that body blocking is a threat and playing slower will generally avoid a lot of these issues but it still feels poorly implemented at this point and could use some adjustments IMO.
So far the only thing that is dragging down my enthusiasm for the game is being blocked in by mobs. But it is mainly due to how this tends to happen more that me dying in the end. I played too fast I ran ahead I got surrounded that's natural. But (in the campaign at least) the map design tends to lead to incredibly frustrating and poor encounters especially on a lower burst build like Chaos DoT. So many narrow hallways and corridors which I get it they want you to be forced into interacting with the encounters but I'd like to be able to make it to a ROOM and stand and fight in an area rather than "here's a hallway, aggro mobs, back up" x100 because I know if I go forward at all something's gonna end up behind me. Aside from this I think the player collision box is far too large by default. I'm getting dragged around by mobs barely touching me and getting stuck on walls that I feel like I'm nowhere close to. Could just take some getting used to but it just feels clunky sometimes that PoE1 never did. A single mob being able to block off one hallway is IMO too much and it couldn't hurt to let us squeeze through ever so slightly smaller gaps. And just to end I think the game is in a great place and personally am really enjoying myself. Looking forward to where we end up at the end of EA! Last bumped on Dec 9, 2024, 10:34:09 PM
