Is there a technical reason why you can't move items with mouse while in controller interface?
I had to switch to playing POE2 on a controller due to the heavy focus on movement, positioning and rolling for which I could just not find a comfortable layout on m+kb that worked for me. The game plays really well on controller, which is awesome! But having to do anything with inventory, crafting and trading is SO painful. It would be perfect if while using the controller input/interface, the game would still allow you to move and interact with items with a mouse without having to leave the game to swap input methods. I understand they want the console-like interface for people playing on a TV from 6 feet away, but is there a technical limitation preventing using the mouse without changing the whole interface? This is a really big sticking point for me. I want this so badly :(

I was wondering the same thing; I Play on both console and steam due to traveling. It really would be nice if you can use both interfaces especially for inventory management. Every time I pull up inventory it takes me to a character screen like I'm in the character creation screen.

Oh wow so if using controller you cant just reach for the mouse and have it auto switch to mouse control while you do your inventory sort then grab your controller to switch back to controller mode?
That's a bit short sighted imo! Last edited by Calistin#5303 on Dec 10, 2024, 11:22:25 AM

It should be interchangeable. I have no idea why it's like this. Or why you have to be in the login screen to change it. Its 2024.

I agree 100% that this needs to be implemented into the game ASAP. The controls feel really bad to me, and I am going to completely table the game until they are improved.
Personally, what I really want is hybrid controls. Controller in my left hand so I have joystick movement, and a mouse in my right hand so I have point and click spell casting. I hope GGG is listening... cuz I know when I've complained about controls for some indie games in the past, those complaints fell on deaf ears. It's almost like it was a direct attack on the game to criticize how it controls. But for me, the controls are a deal breaker rn. They need to be better. |

I found it weird not being able to do it, I thought it was a bug or something.. hope they fix it soon

" Yeah unfortunately while using a controller the mouse is only limited to certain things, like you can hover over some stuff and use the settings menu but otherwise you can't use it unless you log out and switch it. Having it do both in a hybrid way would be perfect so I could use controller for gameplay and mouse for inventory. Hopefully they work on it! This needs to be a thing.
I have 140 hours in POE2 and if i could change ONE thing it would be this. This is also the reason why i stopped playing POE1 because Last Epoch and D4 both allowed you to seamlessly integrate. I just dont understand their logic in this Do you know how long it takes to organize inventory without a sort function or sort by? Doing it on a controller is absurd when you can use the mouse and KB for chat and the only way to read buffs/text in game. |

No there isn't, it's just terrible programming, period.
Every arpg out there can sync kbm and controller seamlessly except poe. Previously i thought it was due to convoluted code that poe1 disables kbm on controller, but turns out they do the same stupid thing poe2. Im hoping it is just an early access issue, but don't hold your hopes high, poe has the worst controller function in all arpgs. |

this really bugs me too . also why cant i zoom in and out on the mouse scroll wheel while using the controller . make it work please
