Mercenary not shooting

There are times when playing the mercenary and reloading his ammo, he won't shoot at all. I tested this with different controllers and it's not that. I think it's a problem when switching to ammunition really fast and it doesn't register the reload initially. Once I double click to shoot, then it fires the ammo.
