PoE2 constant crashing, Probably something on my end?
Hello, I have been having many crashes through out my experience with POE2. Often this is happening at loading screens, cinematics between acts, and occasionally in normal gameplay. Current road block seems to be something related to Trial of Chaos and since entering it's lobby the game has become unplayable/unprogressible. To make up some arbitrary statistics, I would say 80-90% of the time I am crashing just trying to load into the game from character select, the rest of the time is on loading screen trying to enter the trial or leave the area via door or waypoint, and if I can make it into the trial I either crash when selecting an Ultimatum mod, on monster spawn after Trialmaster time stops, or moments after interacting to begin survival rounds.
The most common crash is the game just closing, but I have had 2 BSOD and a few full crashes, as well as one gpu crash (all other function was working fine despite displays going black as I still had the game music playing until hitting alt f4). I have tried every possible fix I can think of or track down with the exception of just reinstalling windows. - Adjusted CPU power settings in BIOS as apparently ASUS just doesn't apply hardware profiles and has them set way too high by default. - 2 checks with DISM and SFC (one sfc came back with corrupted system files that it repaired and second scan a couple hours later came back clean.) - Reinstalled the game, both steam and standalone. (standalone wouldnt let me in the game passed character select, if even that far) - Verified Integrity multiple times via steam as well as the standalone clients version. - Clean installs of NVIDIA drivers, 3 times. - Tested Vulkan and DX12, Vulkan was semi playable for most of my time and working around crashes has been tolerable till this point, meanwhile dx12 is virtually unplayable for somereason. - Attempted several issues that invovled Xbox app/gamebar - Tested different power setting options in Nvidia and bios - Followed instructions on POE site for clearing shaders (which I suspect shaders are in some part working to cause atleast some crashes) - Followed Nvidia instructions to clear their own shader caches - Reseated my GPU (it has been a fix for my pc in the past as it always seems to be needed after I move) Following leads from event viewer has only lead me in circles with the crashes being tied to anything from dxcompiler.dll(poe2 folder), kernalbase.dll(sys32), .NET (this has been updated twice I believe), nv_dispi.inf_amd64_9425e4c3b1ac1c47\nvoglv64.dll(sys32), and another .dll tied to rendering but I dont recall the name. Literally same issue. I have been constantly crashing with exact same symptoms, mostly while using portals and occasionally just standing in town looking at skill-gem menu and what not. But now I`ve reached Trial of Chaos and just cannot progress to my second ascendancy.
Tried it like 6 times. On DX 12 game crushes almost instantly either on trial-choice or as soon as I come near lift. On DX 11 I managed to complete 1.5 rooms with huge FPS freezes(10FPS) before it crashed . On Vulcan it again crashed on trial-choice menu. I mean I`m using old PC and still in past 10 years of gaming experience on this RiG not a single game had such drastic game breaking performance for me. |

I had crashes since I updated to Win 2h24. I downloaded an optional windows update cumlative update for net framework, no crashes since then.

I haven't had any computer crashes, but the game has been just straight up closing for me. Got through the first 2 acts with little issue, a crash here and there over the first 20 hours. But since reaching the trial of chaos, the game has become unplayable, crashing at some point every run, and its only gotten worse, crashing when trying to leave the main hub area and now when selecting character. I'm hoping this gets resolved soon.
PC Specs: Win 10 22H2 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600K 32.0 GB Ram Nvidia 3070 ti installed on an m.2 I've tried switching to vulkan with no change in frequency of crashes. Last edited by MelodiousCoast7#2886 on Dec 14, 2024, 8:29:33 PM

im having the exact same issue. game ran about 18 hours or so with only 1 instance where the game just straight up closed...i didnt think much of it as it only happened once. im able to play solo player with not much issue however now that im caught up to my friends i want to play multiplayer and the game just closes shortly after my friends and i load into a map. its simply unplayable with how frequently it closes in multiplayer. hopefully the devs can fix it. ive updated all my drivers and did my net frame update as well. hopefully the devs have a fix or at least an answer. ill be following the thread to see if they respond.

Right now PoE2 hard freezes during loading screens, this has been happening occasionally since dec 7 and is now almost always making the game unplayable and damaging your hardware.
The computer hard freezes and force you to manually reset the machine. CPU usage and Temp goes 100ºC and 100% usage when you go into loading screens that start stuttering the grind animations and your mouse slowly till they no longer move and your hardware go crazy. The only """"""""solutions"""""""" soo far are disabling multithrading and facing 30/40 fps loss everytime you teleport, go back to the old windows update which cant be done to new machines nor is advisable to do so for a single game and WILL BE FORCED TO UPDATE EVENTUALLY REGARDLESS and manually disabling by task manager core 0 and 1 EVERYTIME you log into the game. Do report the game on the flag icon at the steam store page, scroll down and flag it because the game isnt playable. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3594126/page/1 182 pages of bug report since Dec 7 and no update nor bug fixes has been done since then. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3594471 156 pages, same issues Many do report hardware damage and loss in these threads. Many other threads and complains about the same issues over 600/700 pages on the official forums and aside saying "yo we know" no update nor solution has been done in a spawn of 2 weeks. EA games are in their right to have bugs and other issues but in no way shape and form they are allowed to simple be unplayable and even cause damage to your machine. |

I'm having the same problem, only now every game I play locks out after a certain amount of time, and sometimes even BSOD.
Thank you so much GGG for screwing up my computer, now what? Reinstall WIN 11? I have tried everything to fix my computer, I also don't know what the problem is, is it the video card, memory or hard drive that is screwed up. Where do I send the bill if something is broken? I've done every test I can think of to try to pinpoint the problem, but no error anywhere, so I'm at a loss. I don't think my Windows profile is messed up, even if I create another user account the problem remains, so it is deeper than a software problem. I'm not a computer wizard and I don't have the time or inclination to figure out what the problem is. What I do know is that PoE2 caused the problem, and not just with me, as I see it everywhere on the forums. So what's going to happen? Even when i wrote this i get a BSOD! I never respond on forums if there is something wrong with a game, I just don't play it anymore. But now I can't even play another game because it also crashes after a certain time. So this is not normal, and there is not even a priority to fix it, Steam should remove it from their site until this issue is resolved so that more people don't have problems with this. |
