Does infernal flame from infernalist work with the black doubt's effect?

I got a robe that says while not on full life, sacrifice 10% mana per sec to recover that much life. If I have infernalist's talent that converts mana to infernal flame would that still work? And how would that work? Do I just reach max flame then life keeps recovering from the robe and flame keeps at max level?
