My issues with PoE2
To start off, the first 3-4 hours was pure bliss. I was loving it. I loved the increased difficulty, I loved the new gem system, loved it all. But after fighting the ACT 2 boss, a realization hit me: This entire game and every fight is balanced around hitting spacebar and that's just kind of lame. Because gear is so scarce and I need every piece of gold I can get, respecing feels not even possible or at least extremely punishing.
I agree that PoE 1 was too easy at times and I agree with making a more difficult game but how you decide to increase that difficulty matters. I will be making a new character soon, maybe that will help. I started monk but it's feeling awful into act 3. Weapon upgrades are impossible to come by, same with every other gear piece. Which brings me to my next issue, loot. When you increase the difficulty of the game and create boss fights that take 10 minutes, it must be associated with reward. It was also in ACT 2, after I spent forever trying to kill this boss because I have to hit dodge every .5 seconds, that it hit me just how unrewarding this game actually is. After killing it, I got NOTHING. Not a rare, not a piece of currency just come gold and a couple of greys. At first, killing the hard bosses was the reward, the feeling of accomplishment but I find that feeling has faded. I want to be rewarded with loot now, please. I want to feel like I can spend my gold to respec my tree and try new builds, not hodl on every piece of gold so I can gamble for an upgrade. I have found a grand total of 2 alchs after nearly 40 levels. I have never played such an unrewarding game in my life. So at this point, to push myself to want to continue playing, I am going to make a new character. I've read that melee, especially monk, is just hard mode. That's too bad. The monk gameplay is pretty fun. Last bumped on Dec 8, 2024, 1:51:06 PM

making a new character isn't going to make your RNG better/worse, you still are going to be absolutely starved for drops. Your best bet is to take the character you have now, go to zone that well below your level, and grind for hours till you get some stuff (or don't because RNG). then maybe figure out what you can build with them.
All the classes are viable, in the sense they all feel equally bad. Top player on the HC ladder last night was a warrior abusing rain of arrows, which will be nerfed soon like the slam was yesterday. |
