Ancient Vows Quest - Bad Design, Relic not dropping

The quest text is beyond cryptic "Find another Relic" - doesn't drop anywhere, quest marker does not help. Online guides say, that it drops in Mastodon Badlands, other players on Reddit confirm that it drops in The Bone Pits.

Tried both. No drop. Not sure if I am bugged.

Suggestion: Clarify quest text and update marker depending on quest state. Increase drop rate. It is just bad design if you have to kill white mobs for an hour to proceed in a quest.

Can confirm it drops in The Bone Pits.

Started to wonder if I was hitting a bug too, but after grinding for about an hour or so the Sun Clan Relic dropped in The Bone Pits.

My feedback on this is that loot gamba is the reason I play an ARPG and I do enjoy clearing maps over and over again so I do not agree about this being bad design. What I like here is that it gives a sneak peak of end game mapping, early in the campaign. The main difference being that you typically have many goals at the same time in endgame, whereas here there was not much more to getting that quest item, other random loot and gold, which tbh are quite valuable too, but I feel like they should not be at this point in the campaign.

What I suggest though is to make it clear that the item will eventually drop given enough time and which zone to grind, because I started to wonder if I was grinding the correct zone.

edit: if this were a mandatory quest I'd agree more that it is bad design, but this is a side quest, so that changes things a lot. If you're unlucky or want to continue the story you have the choice to do so.

I fully agree. Awful quest design and description that is not helpful at all.

Loot gamba is also why i play these games..i understand your point with the grinding but this is not end game, its campaign and people want to progress in the campaign. The campaign is very long even without the need to grind some item in same map.

I think this quest should be same kind like the one in venom crypts. Also venom crypts is not mandatory but i would not feel good to clear the whole area and not finding anything and do it again in a hope to find the item.

I think it could be like the item either is a guaranteed drop from a specific monster or you need to find it somewhere in the map so you dont have to farm the area to find it.

I'm soon in the end of act 3 with my ranger and need to back to find the relic in some point. Did spend alot of time to find the relics but did not find the other one. Feels silly to go back overleveled to find it.

The locations are "Keth" and "The Bone Pits"
And they should be marked or hinted IN GAME, not by using google.
