Rudja, The Dread Engineer

I'm relatively new to Path of Exile. I very briefly dabbled in PoE 1 when something else grabbed my attention while I was still trying to figure the game out. I've been insanely hyped in following PoE 2 and was looking forward to an ARPG that incorpated mechs I was familiar with from ESO or Dark Souls in the manner of roll dodging to avoid instant death.

I've read some about the game difficulty, but have rather enjoyed it up until this point. The ARPG mechanics mixed with the souls-like combat makes it really engaging, and some fights make me rethink about the fight and possibly even change skills or even how I approach fight where I had previously been failing.

This is the first fight that I've given up on. Roll dodge doesn't work half the time against Rudja's melee attacks or even worse, I wind up rolling back into Rudja's flame jet after roll dodging one way to avoid it. Doing damage to her isn't an issue, but surviving her mechanics has been more than enough for me tonight.

In more than one boss fight, I've wanted to brighten the tells for the boss mechanic tells. Against the Executioner, it was exceeding difficult to see the red aoes that often times hid inside my flame wall. There's not a slider or a glow effect on most of the "dodge stupid" mechanics and for someone not sitting right up on the TV, this is problematic, at least for me.

I loved the Rudja fight, even though I died a couple times to her chasing me, the flamethrower wasn't really an issue. I play melee though.
Get a ruby ring or sth. Can't expect to beat a boss with no resistances. I died 2 times from the act 2 endboss first and second try. But this boss was probably just a Res/Armour check. I had to look it up who that even was...

I like the boss fights. I would change the perspective an say some of the early skill combos could have a little more impact though^^ But there should be some demand regarding gear and a Boss that requires fire res should kill you if you have none. Otherwise it would be to easy.

You're so right. I'm still all stacked up from Count Geonor. I've been grinding gear for sure. I'll retackle the fight today. This was the first time I've had real frustration though at how dark some of the fights are.

I hate this boss. Ive not struggled with any other boss so far, beating most of them 1st or 2nd try.

Ive tried to beat Rudja 10+ times now and she ALWAYS just instakills me, even after getting her down to 5/10% health.

Does the grenade swinging attack get a bigger radius or something as she gets damaged more because ive never been able to get away from it at lower health and it always one-shots me. None of the other attacks give me a problem (apart from the damn grenades which are almost impossible to see throughout the mine level, at least the boss room is better lit).

If this sort of poorly telegraphed instakilling is what the rest of the game has in store then i'm pretty much done.
