Wisdom Scrolls Serve No Purpose Now (Idea)
With the Hooded One being able to identify all your loot in town for free, just remove wisdom scrolls altogether. Make it so any time you port to town your stuff just automatically gets ID'd by him. It's just a pointless currency/tedium that adds nothing to the game otherwise.

All items should just be identified on drop. Having to identify loot is such a dated concept. Why are we wasting time on that.
However, I recall one of the devs saying they want this mechanic, so I doubt it's going anywhere. |

Yeah, I don't understand this either. They make an NPC that identifies everything yet still have the game drop wisdom scrolls. For what? Talk about redundant.
Then at the same time, they for some reason decided portal scrolls are not in the game anymore so you get to enjoy wasting 3-4 seconds each time you want to make a portal instead of doing it instantly with a portal scroll. There's a lot of things with PoE 2 where it just doesn't make sense at all no matter how I try to view it from the devs' perspective. 🔷🔶🔰🌀✨Standard>Leagues✨🌀🔰🔶🔷

I think the point with the portal scrolls was in similar vein to things like bosses resetting on death. They want you to have to actually fight instead of just porting out and healing like you could in 1. You'll notice that if you get hit while you're conjuring a portal, even just from the smallest enemy, the animation immediately cancels.
You can still conjure a portal BEFORE engaging and then run through it after the fact, but the point is that if you're just going ham and not really thinking about it, you can't use a portal to get out of a bad situation. And in return for that, they made it so the portal isn't an inventory slot anymore, I guess. A nice QoL trade off for portals having such a big downside now. That said, I do agree that wisdom scrolls seem a bit silly now. I'd honestly rather have The Hooded One not able to identify your gear, if they're going to keep them in. I think I understand the logic of them not wanting to make all items automatically identified, because they probably don't want the mapping experience getting bogged down by people inevitably pausing to parse the value of every single rare on the ground. But, if they're going to give people a free way to do it, we shouldn't have to commit an inventory slot to a resource for it too. |

" d2 had both and it worked great. keep an id scroll in case you want to id something on the spot. sure now we all care about matts for crafting but eventually you wont bother with bringing big items back to town, but you might want to ID some on the spot and drop if its trash. i see no problem here. btw- thank you, glad we got our Cain back :P |

D2 would like to have a word.

Maybe the scrolls have some secret xD (unlikely)
But yeah unidentified items seems pointless to me too Last edited by Jokke1989#7206 on Dec 9, 2024, 7:27:30 PM

Bumping thread for support, definitely need SOMETHING to do with these useless things. Some kind of conversion into something actually useful?
Maybe with every 25 you convert into a crafting mat that lets you re roll an affix on magic items? |

They do add something to the game though. (even though I think it's kind of insignificant)
You have to decide between taking up inventory slots with scrolls to ID stuff in the map or portal to town to ID. |

We already know items will not drop UnID, they already mentioned that they will keep that mechaninc in the game. With that in mind, if they only to UnID items was to talk with the shroud, people would complain that they want wisdoms for quick UnIding while mapping. I think its better if they stay. I dont see the issue
