Thought I would share some criticism and overall thoughts so far. To say I am not a little bit disappointed would be a lie. So here's my perspective on why I am not really having fun. This is of course subjective so if you disagree it's totally fine. Maybe it's not the game I was hoping it would be.

Act 1 completed

COMBAT
Combat feels incredibly clunky and has 0 fluidity. I am not sure if the intent for POE2 was to push everyone to WSAD but that's not really my playstyle. Mouse and keyboard feels terrible. The movement is really off.

ANIMATIONS
The casting animations, roll animations, dodge animations, it all feels very clunky. Like you roll to dodge a mechanic and as our coming out of your roll, your character slows down while trying to get up pretty much negating the evasive maneuver in the first place. I dunno something is just off, doesn't feel smooth and polished.

GAME PACING
The game is sooooooooo slow! My god I get it, we wanna have good pacing, but the game in it's current state is a completely SLOG!! I am also not noticing much increase to drops on crafting materials, so having basically 0 ability to experiment with gear, find upgrades, and pace through the zones is a snooze fest.

BOSSES
I personally think there are too many early on. It becomes annoying, especially when each encounter is 20 min fight, spamming dodge roll and evade 90% of the fight and only getting to use skills 10% of the time. The bosses move twice as fast as you do, and there is 0 downtime between one ability to the next you need to avoid. Getting in a cast is really difficult. The only way I was able to complete the last boss on Act1 was to equip flame and electric orbs (instant cast) and run around the map for 20 mins while they slowly ticked the boss down. I dunno, this was just not fun at all. There needs to be a LITTLE bit of downtime between abilities that need to be evaded to give us a chance to cast a couple things.

MONSTER SPEED
Guys come on, like difficulty is one thing, but the monsters and bosses all move twice as fast as you do. Getting a chance to cast a skill in between mechanics is very difficult. It's absolutely annoying and infuriating. You cannot outrun any mob.

GAME TUNING
From my previous point, the game is sooo boring. 90% of the fights is spent dodging mechanics, and not actually playing the game. Maybe it's different for melee or archers, but casting on a sorc feels terrible.

I dunno I am very disappointed. I keep reminding myself that its early access and these things may change, but I was hoping for a better experience. I am not giving up at all, but at this point I am forcing myself to push through not really having fun.

Stick to D4, Last Epoch.

That's pretty rude. I don't like D4 or Last Epoch.

Make your profile public, let's see what you like and how much you like it.
Maybe try a new character? I'm playing ranger. I think it's the only class with movement speed in it's tree early on. And as you well know, move speed is king. I'm not having a hard time progressing. The move speed and evasive abilities really help in all combat situations, especially bosses. In boss fights I'm not constantly dodge rolling like you say you are. I can outrun a lot of the abilities. And use my evasive abilities at the right time to dodge hits while doing damage.

I'm with you on this one. It's challenging, it's demanding and it's fine.
I'm on sorc lvl 28 even though i'm nearing 22hrs in game, mostly because i like to explore full maps. And i'm having fun.

That being said - there should be some delay between boss abilities and the reasoning is:
- as well as the OP said, the casters have hard time to cast more than one or two spells before they need to dodge again which results in me not even utilizing my full skillset, because i simply don't have time and feel too pressed to do something fast which makes me go with extremely sub-optimal rotation and therefore doing 1/3rd of my possible DPS. I don't mind moving, but this is too much.
- in the group it makes in fight ress impossible, especially as it fully resets with a single hit. Although this might be intentional but rn, if someone falls during a boss fight, the fastest way is to wipe and try again because you can't take boss down with missing person and you can't ress them.

Another thing that bugs me a bit is a target priority while using controller which goes enemy -> loot -> ress -> active object (chest, etc.)
This is extremely visible during ascendancy and escape challenge, where with KB(M) you can simply outrun the monsters and just click the pillars, but with controller you need to fight them before you can touch pillar which becomes almost impossible if there's a rare enemy since the timeframe is so short.
And since there's no input hotswap, you can't even work around it comfortably. Basically just hope for the first trial not being an escape and then restart the game before you do the escape and back afterwards. Or heavily overlevel so you can almost onehit enemies.

Other than that, i welcome the higher difficulty. For once i feel like i actually need to work for the result and not just autopilot one button build like in D4.

If D4 is too simple and POE2 too hard for someone, i actually think that Last Epoch is an amazing middle ground.
skill issue. git gud.

Yeah.
This was ruthless mode except your character is walking in tar.

Increase base movement speed by 20%, and make dodge roll 50% faster.
Triple loot during campaign.
Add quest locations on maps so you don't need to backtrack.

This will solve most problems, including the underpowered feeling you get.
I wonder if they speculated in make characters walk so slow, nerfing drops and giving white mops so much HP to simply drag out the campaign?

Either way, I'm out for now. Be back in a few weeks/months when this is sorted out. If it never is, I won't be back -sticking with POE1 then.

100% this

100% agree. My expectations were high, however this is an overall letdown for me. 15 minute boss fights and zdps feels awful.

I agree with you here, definitely should be some downtime between moves to let people get their skills with longer cast times in. Also for the other issue of ressing teammates that u mentioned, though I think this is less of an issue. Might be best strategy to try to stun or freeze the boss before ressing.

That sounds extremely frustrating, and makes me glad I'm not playing on controller. Sounds like it wouldn't be hard for GGG to fix this issue in the sanctum encounters. They can just bump the priority of the pillars above creatures.Maybe you should make a new thread about this to get their attention.

Same, I really like what spot the difficulty is in.
Playing a warior, I can't relate with: game being slow, low dps, 10min boss fights, etc.

I pretty much oneshot everything in maps, rares die fast too, can gather large groups if I am careful and that's in hardcore.

What I seen some softcores do is rush too fast ahead without resists (lol), without scaling the dmg a little by farming and getting levels. Instead they are complaining that they do zero dps when they are doing dumb stuff. Meanwhile I find a good place to farm and the game always feels fun because I hit hard and fast. Game does not feel slow to me.

I seen vids on youtube of rangers and casters having high dps while climbing ladder, so it is possible. The question is how, and maybe those that complain about low dps and no loot are doing something wrong, because I like how loot currently is, if anything, I would prefer loot to be reduced.
