Attack In Place doesn't cancel movement when attacking from range, causing slippery ground effect
Edit: ** SOLVED: Be sure to check the option "Attack In Place Key Stops Move" under Options > Interface > Gameplay.**
Issue: When attacking from range and pressing the Attack In Place key (SHIFT by default) while moving, the toon is slowed rather than stopped. The toon continues moving until they reach the end of their movement (in WASD mode, this is when the player stops holding down a movement key; in KBD/MOUSE mode, this is when the toon reaches the last clicked ground location). Replication: Create a ranged class toon (anything but warrior or monk). Get the starter weapon from the first NPC on the Riverbank. Move toward the nearby mobs. Press your Attack In Place key while still moving and begin attacking. Notice how your toon is slowed but keeps moving. In Kbd/mouse mode, this behavior can easily become unplayable as one continually attemps to compensate for getting alternately too close and then too far away from the target(s). Expected Behavior: The pressing and holding of the Attack In Place key should cancel and override any WASD or Click-to-move actions for the length of time that it's held. I noticed that the same behavior occurs if I set left click to Move Only and set the ranged skill to Always Attack Without Moving. In other words, the "without moving" option results in "while slowed" behavior.

100% this is annoying as hell, thank you for wording this problem effectively

Don't know if you have seen it but in Options -> Interface tab there is an additional setting: "Attack In Place Key Stops Movement". Is that set? Does it change the way the skill behaves after being set? Maybe that will give you expected behavior.

" That's a terrible experience. I've already set the option to attack in place, the game should actually, I don't know, attack in place instead of continuing moving. This isn't good design and feels awful |

"Came here tying to figure out if this issue was a feature or bug. It was driving me nuts. I can see where in some play styles this is a nice feature. Poss suggestion would be to add tool tip info on this in Input tab. |

SOLVED!
" That, indeed, did the trick. Thank you so much! So, not only do you have to have the key set and use it, you have to tell the game to use the key the way it's set to be used. I wasn't expecting that, but now I know how to use it. |
