Benefit of leveling up Rolling Slam?

What's the benefit of leveling up Rolling Slam? It only increases Mana used?

Ok nvm it does increase the damage. It would be nice if it said how much damage it increased by. It's not very clear on what you get for leveling up a gem. I had to go into the character skill screen and see how much damage it increased by , but it def does increase damage.
