(Solved) Two hand mace auto-attack skill is disabled under weird circumstance

Description


I am no longer able to use the basic attack that comes with the two-hand mace. It's disabled in the Skills panel and only becomes available if I remove the shield of my other weapon profile (The "I" and "II" shown above weapons in inventory).

I meet all requirements

Weapon Requirements
- 11 Strength — I have 31

Skill Gem Requirements
- Level 10 — I am level 11
- Requires Two Hand Mace — It's equipped in weapon profile II*

* Switching it to the first profile ("I") does not make a difference.

Weirdly enough everything worked fine up to some point. But suddenly the just disappeared from my skill bar and is has been unavailable since.

-> -> -> IMPORTANT: It appears to have something to do with the support gem capacity or (specifically the "infernal cry" skill / "corrupting cry" support gem). If I unequip that skill, or the support gem I can use my two hand mace attack again.

What I have tried
- Restarting the game.
- Putting the two-hand mace in the first weapon profile.
- Only removing the one-hand mace from my other weapon profile (aside from removing the one-hand mace attack skill, this does not make a difference)
- Using a different two-hand mace
- Removing support gems (If I have 2/2 support gems, the skill is only greyed out. If I remove either one or both it also shows a warning with text "Incorrect weapon type" if I hover over it).

Same issue with 'Infernal Cry', I can't add the skill to my action bar (and consequently can't use it), even though the skill gem is equipped (the prerequisites are being met) and had been working fine until the bug occurred. I don't know exactly what triggered the issue. Probably related to this is the fact that the skill summary window (expanded by clicking the arrow next to the skill level in the 'Skills' menu) is empty for this particular skill only. Hover descriptions work fine.
I will leave this post up but it ended up being a skill issue on my end, and would be suitable to at most, an UI enhancement from GGG.

What was happening:

My shield gave me a strength boost and without it (or by switching to another profile) I didn't meet the requirements for the amount of support gems I had slotted and the UI didn't do much in terms of explaining

I feel like GGG could prevent these things by doing the following:

Whenever you hover over a skill or any interactable UI element that may have requirements – tell us if we meet them, even through a simple barely noticeable icon is fine. This on it's own wouldn't help, but it would if it also gave an indication for the second weapon profile.
