PoE 2 feedback after completing act 1.. please add damage numbers.
im a new player to PoE 2, im close to finishing act 1 and the game is fun and everything is as good as i expected and the hype was real.
BUT i do really hate that there are no damage numbers. its annoying. i dont feel my progression. i dont see when i crit or not, i dont see the big detonations of a fully stacked lightning slam of my monk. like, subjectivly, enemies are the same as the tutorial swamp, they are 2 to 5 hits to kill. by the end of act 1 they look diffrent, might have diffrent attacks, but the game literally feels like i havent grown my char in strength in the 6h ive been playing. only got new fancy skills to inflict the same 2-5 hits to kill them. and worse of all, i dont see how much damage the enemies are hitting me for, like there are 10 mobs around me, i cant know if i can greed when i see them hitting for 1-3 damage or i should roll for my life when everyone of them hits me for 15+ so ill get one shot. like i get poe 1 didnt have damage numbers and that the vets like it. fine, but in every other game you guys play you can disable them to not clutter ur screen. why cant i turn them on for me? it doesnt hurt nobody. does it ruin other people's immersion that i see my numbers? i really cant wrap my head around not even giving the option for something that is STANDARD in every single other game that has combat. so. why cant they have an option to turn on/off damage numbers like in every other game? you can have them off i can have them on. i dont get it. every other game has this and you are trying to appeal and cultivate new audience. its not like we have dps meter in game to see information during combat like in mmos. it provides vital (and fun) feedback on moment to moment performance of your build and gameplay. " There are damage numbers at the top right of the monster health bar of bosses. I think you have D4 /WoW brain bro sorry to say. You’ll get used to it and it will become more instinct as you play. Which I better imo. |

" so what if i have "wow brain"? some people have "pepperoni brain" and order pepperoni on every pizza, or "pineapple brain" or whatever topping YOU dont like. would you open a pizzeria that doesnt serve said topping? ofc you wouldnt. you would serve all topping for all consumers. im asking for an option. im not trying to mandate it as default for everyone. an option that is STANDARD and basic in all other action combat games mind you. im not here wanting detailed death recap or dps meter split by skill after each boss right? preety basic stuff. and ive explained exactly why i feel i want to turn such an option on. i want to have more fun in a video game. who are you to invalidate me and tell me to "just get used to it"? and that tiny number up top you mentioned? it is practically non existent. its much much to small to be useful in any capacity and its position is far infirior to the one we see above the boss HP in souls. and its turned on only for bosses not regular mobs. which also defeats its idea. if they wanted to add "dry" damage numbers like in souls. they should have done it properly. not this 9.5 font at the top of my screen i need to squint my eyes to see. If GGG wanted it to look like a classic MMO or d3/d4 I think they would have done it. Probably part of their design philosophy so I don’t think it will change. Hopefully you can enjoy the game without the numbers. If they eventually add them in and it’s a toggle, then win-win I guess.

" i hope so too. so far its very fun. WASD is a god send and really feels like the next gen ARPG i wanted last epoch to be. also the way comboing different abilities feels rewarding and "efficient dps" compared to the classic arpg loop of spamming 1 big ability the whole time. bosses are fun, game pace is great. for me its only the lack of proper damage numbers, to see how im doing vs all types of enemies and not only bosses, thats the only thing that annoys me. |

I agree OP.
I think it should be an optional thing... Even with options akin to Diablo as someone mentioned in another post : d3 provides damage numbers and additional options how you want these: 1. No damage numbers (if you don't like screen clutter for die-hard PoE players) 2. Full damage numbers (when you want to test your build in different scenarios) 3. No white hits (usually for zooming) 4. No white hits or crits (only orange numbers which is the maximum/high hit recently). Also, you can choose between full numbers (9,212,323,434) or short form (9B).. I understand why they don't and I still would like to have the option, for some of the reasons you stated. Maybe at least target dummies somewhere? Comparing and contrasting so many skills and not really seeing/feeling the effect is a little oft putting. I am enjoying the game a lot but would definitely like some sort of damage feedback. That minuscule number on a boss just doesn't cut it. |

I do NOT want them to add dmg numbers. Because if they do, then every blasted streamer and youtuber will have them enabled and it will make the game look like trash. Have you seen D4 on youtube? Looks like trash all because they always record their gameplay with dmg numbers enabled.
So no. Do not want, even as an option. You have one number next to the boss bar, that should be sufficient. Player since closed beta 2012. Full system specs: https://pastebin.com/c4rvbvSR
