If you feel this game is 'HARD' or not for you/unlike PoE - this might help you [I was so wrong]
DODGE ROLL:
maybe you are like me and never played Souls Games? well the dodge roll, is NOT for dodging! The iframes at its start (immunity frames) don't only dodge attacks, they dodge all hit damage, ability damage, aoe slam damage, whatever hits it seems it will dodge it, even if its coming right in your face- this means you have a short immunity bubble. This is uber counter intuitive because it makes zero sense- but what it also means is that all you need to do is roll around. you just keep rolling when you see damage coming- THATS IT! you can negate most mechanics with this. only watch out for ground dot, stun locks and being trapped. If this is what Souls Games are about, they are absolutely mindless. FORCE MOVE ON CAST: ok, this is actually not as bad as it looks. if you learn how to control this you will basically move WHILE casing, so cast time doesn't stop you, cast time doesn't exist in a way. you keep moving, we want to move faster right? again its very counter intuitive at first and it takes time to get used to but its absolutely gr8 MELEE: don't start with it, it wont feel like poe. you should figure out the dodge roll+ you will need some decent weapon (at min a white two-hander). would not recommend shield at all. mind you imo melee is still very clunky and auto targeting is an issue unless i still don't know how to use it (maybe with WASD?). WASD vs POINT+CLiCK: Don't use WASD, this might ameliorate melee clumsiness but for casters/shooters is absolutely horrid, and in my case it even lags the game. Point and click feels just like PoE, and its not even slow once you figure out the move while casting mechanic from above. i hope some of you will find this useful and give the game a second try, because when i started i felt very frustrated myself, but the game feels absolutely gr8, beside the lil cheese from doge roll, but hey, its PoE, there will be cheesah. im actually using a gamepad and it feels surprisingly good for spells.
i think ur right people shouldnt give up too early. little changes in mob speed and aggression could have a big impact on the feel of the game imo. the mobs in poe1 have to race at you 100mph spamming everything because you will kill the entire screen in 2 seconds max and that is their only hope to do anything at all. thats not how player power is during the first few acts of this game at least, but the mobs still act like poe1 mobs a bit too much imo. i think if they could calm that down a bit and players could take time to learn the game properly theyre gonna realise its actually really close to being amazing. back in 2013 poe was really clunky and quite difficult. hailrake in the tidal island killed everyone, multiproj shotgunning voidbearers in the docks would melt capped res chars in a second, literally. offscreen charging rhoas would stunlock you to death in the mudflats. it was brutal. the game got balanced over time but i think more impactful was that we L2P the thing. its a new game, and its not a shit new game like D4, were going to have to actually go through a learning process here for the first time in 12 years. |

Okay, i take everything back. With my actual build game feels as easy as I know it from POE 1
If you struggle try out Sorceres with Cold buil. WOW it destroys everything. Bosses go down like that. Last edited by Dengeleng2#0563 on Dec 8, 2024, 8:24:57 AM

" this is a very important point. I feel like most unhappiness is coming form people that started to play PoE in the middle of its life cycle. We see new players enjoying the game even tho its pretty difficult, and people that played since the beginning remember exactly what you just mentioned plus they are also familiar with how 'Ruthless' the game used to feel in terms of drops. Now If I had such difficulty at first, this must be very frustrating to everyone not fond of Ruthless on top of all that. I'm not sure if they can push through this, but its definitely worth it. " I'm still getting familiar with the passive tree, but i think we got the two sets of passive trees (the weapon slot variants) for exactly this reason. one should be crowd control and other single target. but like i said, i'm not exactly sure how to use that yet so can't give more advice |

Nice to have dodge roll. By the time you get to end game you will be a pro. To bad that's the only good skill you have.

the problem is, I do not want to play a dark souls game. there are PLENTY of options for that already that I choose not to play. This has been the least enjoyable experience in my 30+ years of gaming. I'm considering trying to refund the the support pack I bought since I haven't used any of the points. I do not want early access, or honestly ANY access at this point.
