Not having fun
;Title
I got to act 2, maybe 20% of the way through it and i'm just not having fun with it. A few things that are probably dampening the entire thing for me; a complete lack of useful loot drops. 95% of drops are white which you throw currency at and get nothing useful. I get throwing bases at people, but, theres so little loot, and rare mobs dont drop anything (making them feel like a waste of time). The whole thing just feels bad. The crafting is practically non existent, meaning you cant fill the holes in your gear or resistances. i picked monk to start and i think that was a bad decision. The dodge roll feels attrocious. Combat just doesnt feel rewarding at all (monk) Having to farm for uncut skill-gems to try out other skills, at end game i expect these to become plentiful, but as it stands it's quite frustrating. The campaign is just...slow. 4-5 hours to get to act 2 with 5 deaths. I don't think i could do that every season. POE1 Is really quite fast and doesn't feel like such a slog. No quicksilver flask or movement skills compounds the sluggishness. Now, i get that this is a much slower different game, but, i think it might just be a bit too slow, even for avid POE players. I feel like a lot of people will play it once and just go back to POE1 as it feels far too much like Ruthless. I'm not even sure i'll find the motivation to clear the campaign (and that's bad, because i finish pretty much all games). Will have to try a different base class and play style and see how it feels in comparison. However, as it stands. In it's current state, POE2 is just no fun at all. It's just a slow, painful experience. There's just no excitement here. Last edited by Sc077ish#7423 on Dec 7, 2024, 1:54:33 AM Last bumped on Dec 7, 2024, 4:06:38 AM

I totally agree with you. I honestly didn't think it would be this similar to Ruthless, which I absolutely hate. Pretty much no decent gear drops, and gems are few and far between. I'm already thinking about heading back to Poe 1. I was hoping I would be blown away by this game, but when something isn't fun, it's really hard to want to continue.

I don't think the OP necessarily wants the game to feel super fast per-se ... they just want the game to feel fun.
When a game isn't particularly fun AND it feels sluggish that's never a good combination. |

combos are more impactful, and crafting your own gear. maybe shop a bit, interact with the system, find some interesting combo that does massive damage/clear speed... game starts slow, but picks up greatly in act2, especially if you start using currency to roll gear. you should be disenchanting all the items u can too, if u have enough gold 3-4k to buy good shop items to again roll on

I totally agree, so little gear and so many deaths. Not a fun start for me. Will keep going for now hoping it picks up. Feels very sluggish and slow and forcing myself to keep going on day one is not encouraging.

This is a 10/10 release for me and I honestly wasn't expecting it to be this good. I only ever play POE as HC SSF and i never read build guides or play meta as it ruins my fun. I havn't had an issue with Drop rates, dropped 2 uniques, I think all equipment rare by A2, I've also been sparingly using currency/orbs to upgrade half decent base gear to rare etc.
I would prefer not, but suspect GGG will nerf the difficulty as it's going to be punishing for new players in this state. Like with POE 1 you have to strongly invest in defenses or you're gonna have a bad time. Last edited by AmpegV4#2473 on Dec 7, 2024, 2:22:31 AM

" While I'm one of those having a hard time with the game I don't think that it's necessarily an issue of strongly investing in defenses that's the issue. [My issue is not being good at the EA -- LOL] Specifically with the new "boss" mechanics in place by the time I know what attack is incoming it is sometimes too late for me to fully mitigate the attack. Combine this with an issue I have on getting time to set up my own damage combos and I'm failing just enough mitigation attempts that I'm having vastly more problems with bosses than most [good?] players are. |

could play for one hour yesterday, now i'm more or less off to holidays.
couldn't beat the devourer with my marauder in that time but the overall impression is good. when there are only 3 acts, there naturally is slow progression and no loot showers. otherwise professional players are bored playing it 3h. with dodge rolls, combos and shield blocking the game reminds me more on mortal combat then a arpg but then, i haven't played other arpgs in the last 10 years. i will get used to it eventually, at the moment it just feels clunky on keyboard/mouse. --- ggg, please make the gold pickup animation optional. it destroys immersion into the game. what would be perfect, is, when gold were silently added for killed monsters. i hate having to run back and forth to pickup gold. on the other hand it creates a choice to not pick it up and only go for the bigger piles. hmmm... age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! Same feeling. I play ranger. It's like Ruthless. After few hours I'm on lvl 6. My lightning Arrow max lvl with supports has 50% DMG of the default bow hit without any support. I still have no boots with even 10% speed. I've just bought most expensive bow and nothing has changed.
I feel I'm not rewarded. After few hours feel like there is nothing that improving my char. All supports have downsizing. How many hours do I have to play to pick iceshot? Why lightning Arrow max lvl on my lvl is so weak that I have to kill bosses with standard hit without supports. How many hours do I need to get boots with speed? |

I had very low expectations coming into this game and I'm not surprised. It's forced ruthless with soulslike elements and barely feels like an ARPG. It's still better than poe 1 though, so I want to see the endgame at least. Pretty sure the endgame isn't as bad as the acts
