Map resets on death - bug or working as intended?

Whenever I die, its like the map resets and all loot that was on the ground disappears and there are a new set of mobs on the map in the areas that I had explored before. Is this intentional or should I report it as a bug?

It's very weird, because like you are forced to pick up loot right away in case you die, otherwise you lose it. You also may be fighting a yellow mob, die, and lose the yellow mob. I dont know if I like it, cuz like, why?!
