Mouse control feels bad, constantly fighting the cast while moving
Hello,
I can't do WASD, I tried it, but my left hand is pretty fucked up and it hurts a lot after playing for a couple of hours. So I went back to mouse control, but right now it feels so god damn terrible, but let me explain why it feels bad. 1) It feels slippery, whenever you want to use a spell, your character won't stop moving, it's like trying to drive a car on ice. There should be an option to disable this move while casting stuff. I should honestly be like in poe1 so we can stutter step, it feels tighter than in poe2. 2) The system seems to fight you. It's very inconsistent. If I click to move somewhere, click behind me to attack, my character will move in the direction I am going while shooting backwards but the moment it stops it tries to turn back towards where it's running (instead of running backwards), this causes trying to chain different skills to just lock up the character and to go in weird dance. Also, if you click to move while you're casting a spell, it cancels the spell somehow? Example, I left click at the top, right click at the bottom, left click at the left side, my character will stop the attack towards the bottom to just run? 3) It really does feel the game was balanced with WASD in mind and it's pretty sad. I am playing sorceress, most of my points have been spent in defence, I have pretty good DPS as well, but when you encounter large packs of monsters, you HAVE to be moving backwards constantly, stutter stepping wouldn't even be enough, because once they get to you, they surround you and you die. This works well with WASD, but with mouse it's pretty hard with all the glitches. Last bumped on Dec 12, 2024, 3:07:59 AM

Use a keybind for forced attack and there is a setting in Interface tab under the Gameplay section that will stop your movement when you press forced attack key.

Yeah i dont like the way the hero still moves when using a skill. It should be a clear option for us to have it control the same in poe 1 !
If people want to shoot and still move for a bit, thats fine, if people want to use a game pad, that's fine. if people want to stop immediately when using a skill then that should be fine too. there is a main option setting and each skill has a toggle if you want, but it doesn't seem to be operating properly. Sort out GGG !! Last edited by R3cKiTT#5326 on Dec 6, 2024, 11:26:39 PM

Agree, the mouse movement has this weird floatiness to it. Whenever you walk and cast a spell, the character will move a bit.
At first I thought it's a design decision, keeping some momentum from the movement. But when switching to WASD this doesn't happen. You have very precise control and stop moving when you do. I suppose it's to help with kiting while using mouse movement, which I can see why it's there, but when you don't want to or need to kite it's too much (i.e. at range when first encountering something). Something like in Diablo 2 where holding down Shift would force your character to stop moving and only cast could alleviate this. At any rate, it doesn't feel good to play this way, since it doesn't feel like I'm in control of my character the way I should be. Last edited by MolokoNoir#2943 on Dec 7, 2024, 5:44:45 AM
