I thought POE2 was supposed to bring clarity...

so we have this confusing Ascendancy node

so...
We gain spirit but we don't gain spirit?

The lack or clarity here should not be happening.

Is equipped Body Armor not considered equipment?

GGG...

What exactly is not clear? If you have a +X Spirit affix on gear it won't do anything in combination with this node. Instead you just focus on ES and Evasion on your Body Armour.

I think its if you hover it, it gives you more information on that stat.
It's not clear only if you acknowledge that 3rd string (the downside) nullify all bonuses from this notable. But it's pretty intuitive it doesn't, otherwise it would a nonsense.

Spirit provided by the first two strings is not from equipment. These stats check ES and evasion values on your body armour and gain spirit based on them externally.

They are keywords, you can hover over them to read what they mean. Tooltips are also "nested", you can have several of them on the screen simultaneously, like in BG3.

I get what you're saying. It's implied that your body armour (which is equipment) doesn't get spirit inherently, but only from its evasion or energy shield. There is a tiny bit of PoE1 speak in this, but its pretty obvious what it does.

It's not intuitive because it would be nonsense, it is intuitive because the bonus is coming from the notable based on stats on gear, not the gear itself.
I agree, they could of made the wording way more clear by adding a single word, "affixes", after equipment.

Very simple, huh?

The post exists in the first place because someone can read it as if the bonus spirit came from the gear. I explained why that can't be the case in the context of this notable.

In your scenario, someone is already aware of the way it works, there's no intuitive component at all.

A random example, spirit provided by a sceptre comes not from its affix.

Except that's not how stats have ever worked, in PoE 1 or 2. The benefit comes from the notable, it is scaled based on a stat on your gear. At no point is it adding spirit to your gear, and spirit on your gear would be ignored.
