I thought POE2 was supposed to bring clarity...

so we have this Ascendancy

It says you gain spirit for having specified armor equipped then it says you don't gain spirit with equipment equipped.

so...
We gain spirit but we don't gain spirit?

The lack or clarity here should not be happening.

Is equipped Body Armor not considered equipment?

I really hope the rest of POE2 is not this convoluted.

Probably it means items that say "gain xx spirit"

But it is interesting. We will see the final version, its early access at the end, they should make that clearer if thats the case.

It means you don't benefit from any Spriit mods on your equipment. Instead you scale Spirit using your ES and Evasion rating.
Looks fine to me...

Energy shield/Evasion rating on equipped body armour gives you spirit. Any spirit you have on equipment is not gained.

That's fine by me. Could probably have been "from any other piece of equipment" , but hey, It's POE :)

Mods on equipment that say "gain aditional spirit" now do nothing and spirit is scaled off evasion/armour stats on equipped body armour instead.

You aren't gaining the Spirit from the Body Armour. You're gaining Spirit from your Ascendency.

Since you word it as "with equipment equipped"--no, they aren't expecting you to not wear any armour. It's just that bonuses to Spirit on equipment will not apply to you.
