What's With the Bait and Switch

So I was excited to learn that those who spent a certain amount in supporter packs on POE1 would get a free key for POE2. But I was bummed to find out that I was a mere $15 short of the $480. But I figured it gave me an excuse to buy one of the last supporter packs for POE1. So I went out with a bang and purchased one of the $90 packs.

Now before the purchase I poked around on the internet to get an idea of how long I would have to wait to get the key. Most reports said it should be nearly instant...But, it wasn't. I waited a little over a half-hour for they key...nothing.

Emailing support to see what I should expect for a wait. Here is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting us, and for all of your support.

I'm afraid that any purchases made after the newly release Path of Exile 2 Early Access Supporter Packs were added to our store will not count towards this lifetime threshold in this case. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.

Here is the thing, nowhere in the marketing is it indicated that this was a limited time thing. At least none I can find looking across multiple sites. Nearly everything was simply spend $480 on packs in POE1 on a single platform...

Which I did.

So what's with the lie?!

For which platform?

If it's the standalone windows client, you dont need a key. Your access will be shown in your account settings.

Steam...But I hardly see what platform has anything to do with the issue

I just found that, but the annoying thing is that everywhere it wasn't indicated as such. In fact on their own FAQ they state the following:

Purchasing one of new Early Access Supporter Packs with a key grants you access.

As we have also announced earlier, if you've purchased a top-tier supporter pack for $480 USD in the past or have spent $480 USD or more in lifetime purchases in Path of Exile on a single platform, you'll automatically have access to Path of Exile 2. In this case you'll receive an email (if we have one for you) and PM on the website that lets you know that your account has had access granted. We will begin inviting players in the next two weeks. Please note that the threshold is the same for all countries and does not take regional prices into account.
"

And this is what was reflected everywhere in the community, and I know I'm not the only one that has encountered this as I've seen other post about it.

It is not clarified until the next question "How will I know if my lifetime purchases meet the threshold?", which if you were already aware that you didn't meet the requirements, would have no real reason to read.

Thanks for this i was like 10.00 short of the threshold glad to know i cant spent the 10.00 and get in now.

Thats kinda shitty tbh.

Highly doubt ill get a key now lol
