Why are ascendencies so weak?
I didn't see this question answered in the interviews that GGG did. PoE ascendancies are so much stronger:
- Slayer gets 20% culling and speed, the Witchhunter gets just normal culling, which is now also weaker, only 5% - Juggernaut gets double armour from body armour and 15% of armour applied to chaos damage, the Titan only gets the body armour bonus and only half. Looks to me like the stats give about 1/4 th of the power that ascendencies have in PoE. I guess the silver lining is that then the ascendancy also matters less. So not being able to respec is less important. Last edited by RealRoodvlees#0379 on Dec 5, 2024, 10:16:31 AM Last bumped on Dec 6, 2024, 2:07:45 AM

The question is, why are you comparing POE 1 to POE 2? Play the game before comparing them since there could be other changes made aside from damage conversion, how many hp, mana and accuracy you get per stats. We haven't even see the entire skill tree.
There's a lot of very strong ascendancy nodes and yet only mentioned what you think is weak? Last edited by iMirageX#4580 on Dec 5, 2024, 10:21:32 AM

Cause the game got its own balance, so it's best to wait till you get to experience the new classes.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

" which year are you talking about with poe? back in 2013 dmg was worse with poe. poe2 wont scale dmg the same way, 25 hour+ campaign tells you that |

im hoping this is across the board in terms of the power of "more" multipliers.
for damage in poe its quite common to see small sources of 'more' around the 10-20% mark and strong ones in the 35-45% range. the game would probably be in a much healthier state if weaker sources sat around 5% and strong ones around 15%. just keep the maths more compact, keep the difference between someone who knows how to stack a few sources and someone who knows how to stack all the sources optimally somewhere that can still be balanced rather than one dude does 300k dps and the other does 300 million dps. |

They look weak indeed..
Good news is that there will be a lot of players to send feedback and surely GGG will balance. |

" Like which ones? I compared the most similar nodes, therefore the most comparable. I'm not saying the game is imbalanced or bad. Just noticed that the ascendancy is, apparently, less relevant. I'd be interested if anyone knows of a game design reason for that. |

So along about.... I think it was 3.14 they made a concrete decision that ascendencies should only ever account for like 10% of player power (or whatever number they settled on) and should focus more on non-numerical or numerical-adjacent class features primarily. This was after the 14th straight league where they had to nerf necromancer for being too stronk with their skele-boys and boney-girls, causing Sirus to break his keyboard in frustration because the amount of damage they were doing was "bullshit" and "completely unfair".

why complain about something we haven't even TRIED yet? test the game then you can comment on if it feels weak/op or whatever

" Grasping wounds,Crystalline potential, Hulking form, constant gale, force of will, demonic possession and many others. When I saw the leaks, I had reservations since a lot of nodes looks powerful and when GGG officially released the ascendancy nodes, I was just hoping that this won't turn into a nerf parade. For example, look at what arcane surge does, combine it with force of will and the leaks from the passive tree. If Hulking form is what everyone thinks about it, then that might be the most broken node POE has released. It has already been hinted that quality on gems are an end game thing and having +10% to all and I am assuming this is on top of what is the maximum quality of gem can get. Not sure if you get the picture |
